Office Chair Damping Too Small
If the damping of an office chair is too small, you can enhance the backward resistance by locating and operating the adjustment device, and then test and handle any abnormalities after adjustment.

Location and Types of Adjustment Devices
Most office chairs have adjustment devices located on the side or rear of the base, with common structures including knobs, tabs, or levers. The positions and forms of adjustment devices vary among different brands and models of office chairs. For example, the Ergohuman series by Eurotech places the knob on the right rear side of the seat cushion, facilitating operation while seated; the Sihoo V1 uses a tab-style controller, making operation more convenient and intuitive. For some office chairs, when you lean forward and observe the seat base, you may find a circular knob near the connection of the metal spring rod, while some brands use an L-shaped lever.
Adjustment Methods
After locating the adjustment device, operate it according to its type. If it is a knob structure, turning it clockwise usually enhances the backward resistance, that is, pushing it in the direction of the "+" symbol (if clearly marked); for tabs or levers, simply push them in the direction that increases resistance according to their design logic. When rotating a circular knob with your thumb and index finger, maintain an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging the adjustment device due to excessive force.
Testing and Handling Abnormalities After Adjustment
After adjustment, it is recommended to slowly lean back to test the office chair. Observe whether the backrest rebounds smoothly, which is an important step to verify the adjustment effect. If there is any stuttering or abnormal noise during the backrest rebound, it may be due to a lack of lubrication in the adjustment device after long-term use, resulting in increased friction between components. In this case, you can add WD-40 silicone lubricant to the pivot to improve the situation. When adding lubricant, be mindful of the amount to avoid excessive lubricant dripping and contaminating the surrounding environment or other parts of the office chair. By following these steps, you can generally solve the problem of the office chair's damping being too small, making the use of the office chair more comfortable and safe.
