Daily Use of Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

When using office chairs daily, attention should be paid to four aspects: healthy sitting posture, avoiding prolonged sitting, daily cleaning and maintenance, and safety upkeep.

Healthy Sitting Posture: A correct sitting posture is the foundation for maintaining health. Both feet should be flat on the ground, with the thighs and lower legs forming an obtuse angle of approximately 95 to 100 degrees, effectively reducing pressure on the knees and legs. Lean back slightly at an angle of 100 to 110 degrees, allowing the back, especially the lower back, to fit snugly against the chair back. If the chair is equipped with a lumbar support, adjust it to support the natural curve of the lumbar spine, providing good support for the lower back. The height of the armrests is also important; they should allow the forearms to rest comfortably when the elbows are naturally hanging down, with the upper and lower arms forming an angle close to 100 degrees, avoiding prolonged tension in the arms. Additionally, the top of the monitor should be level with the line of sight to prevent the neck from extending forward and reduce fatigue and injury to the neck muscles.

Avoiding Prolonged Sitting: Even with a correct sitting posture, prolonged sitting can pose health risks. Every 30 to 40 minutes, simple stretches should be performed using the chair. For example, for hip joint stretching, sit on the edge of the chair, place one ankle on the opposite knee, and lean forward slightly. For back rotation relaxation, place both hands behind the head and slowly rotate the upper body to one side, holding for a few seconds before switching sides. For shoulder-opening exercises, clasp both hands behind the back and slowly lift the arms upward. These stretching movements can promote blood circulation and relieve muscle tension.

Daily Cleaning and Maintenance: The cleaning and maintenance methods vary depending on the material of the chair surface. For fabric or mesh chair surfaces, vacuum regularly and use water or a mild detergent to gently wipe away stains, avoiding vigorous scrubbing that could damage the fibers. For solid wood chair legs, wipe away dust with a dry cloth to prevent moisture from causing the wood to deform. When cleaning leather chair surfaces, avoid using harsh detergents and regularly use leather conditioner to maintain their softness and luster.

Safety Upkeep: Regularly inspect the chair's casters, removing any tangled hair or fibers to ensure smooth movement. Check all connection screws for looseness and tighten them promptly if any are found to prevent malfunctions during use and ensure safety.
