Office Chair Daily Maintenance

Admin October 12, 2026

Office chair daily maintenance should be carried out from multiple aspects such as cleaning, usage habits, and component maintenance, as detailed below:

I. Surface Cleaning

  1. Seat Surface Material:
    • Mesh/Fabric Seat Surface: Use a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to clean dust every week, paying special attention to the seams. For stains, dilute a neutral detergent and gently wipe, then use a dry cloth to absorb moisture to prevent liquid from seeping in and causing mildew.
    • Leather Seat Surface: Wipe away dust with a dry, soft cloth daily. Clean sweat and oil stains with a slightly damp cloth weekly. Apply a special leather conditioner every quarter to prevent cracking and fading. For stains, spray a leather cleaner onto a dry cloth and gently wipe, then use a damp cloth to remove any residue, and finally dry with a dry cloth.
    • Plastic/Metal Frame: Wipe away stains with soapy water and then dry with a cloth. For metal rust, dip a cotton cloth in white vinegar, wipe, and let it sit for 5 minutes before wiping clean.

II. Usage Habits

  1. Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects on the armrests or seat surface to prevent deformation and dents.
  2. Push and pull gently when moving to avoid hitting walls or table corners, preventing frame cracking or wheel damage.
  3. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially for leather and fabric seat surfaces, to prevent material aging and fading.

III. Component Maintenance

  1. Reclining Components: When there is abnormal noise, spray a lubricant like WD-40 on the pivot joints or springs and rotate the components to distribute the lubricant evenly.
  2. Reclining Tension: Adjust the tension knob according to your body type. If it is too loose and prone to tipping over, tighten it; if it is too tight and difficult to recline, loosen it to avoid excessive looseness.
  3. Chair Wheel Adaptation and Cleaning:
    • Nylon hard wheels are suitable for carpets, while PU soft wheels are suitable for hard floors (such as wooden or marble floors).
    • Regularly use a small brush or vacuum cleaner to clean debris from the wheel axles. Spray an anti-static spray to reduce the adhesion of debris and keep the wheels rotating smoothly.
  4. Adjustment System Lubrication:
    • Gas Lift: When the lifting is stuck, drip 1-2 drops of silicone oil at the connection point and repeatedly lift and lower to distribute the lubricant evenly.
    • Tilt/Recline System: When the adjustment resistance is high, open the chassis cover and apply lubricating grease to the gears and springs.
    • Armrest Adjustment: When it feels stiff, disassemble the cover and spray lubricant on the adjustment rod and slots.
  5. Connection Component Tightening: Regularly use tools to check the connecting screws between the seat surface and gas lift, chassis and gas lift, and armrests and seat surface. Tighten any loose screws promptly, and replace screws of the same specification if they are stripped.
