Office Chair Cylinder Test

Admin October 11, 2026

The office chair cylinder test mainly includes gas rod collapse failure analysis and cylinder sealing tests, relevant tests in the EN1335 test, and gas spring durability tests.

Gas Rod Collapse Failure Analysis and Cylinder Sealing Tests: The testing process covers sample receipt and initial inspection, performance test preparation, cylinder sealing tests, failure mode analysis, data recording, and report writing. Cylinder sealing test methods employ standard approaches such as pressure holding, leak rate testing, and gas leakage detection to determine whether the sealing performance meets design specifications. The testing standards primarily reference the "Technical Requirements for Office Chair Gas Rods" (QB/T 2280 - 2022) and the "Seal Airtightness Testing Methods" (GB/T 3851 - 2017). The former covers the material, performance indicators, structural requirements, and safety performance of gas rods, while the latter addresses airtightness testing methods and judgment criteria for the sealing performance of office equipment. This testing has a wide range of applications and purposes. It ensures the safety and reliability of office chair gas rod products, provides scientific data support for manufacturing enterprises to optimize designs and improve production processes, and enhances product quality. It offers authoritative quality testing references for procurement departments to ensure that purchased products meet quality standards and reduce after-sales risks. It supports relevant regulatory agencies in product quality supervision and promotes the healthy development of the industry. Customers are required to provide detailed product information, including product model, manufacturing standards, design parameters, and usage instructions, sample quantity and relevant batch information, descriptions of historical quality issues or failure manifestations, and relevant quality control documents or enterprise standards (if any).

Relevant Tests in the EN1335 Test: The structural durability test requires the seat to withstand 100,000 vertical impulse loads at a frequency of 30 cycles per minute and the backrest to complete 50,000 backward tilting cycles with a load of 350 Newtons. After testing, all moving parts must remain functional, and the seat height settlement must not exceed 15 millimeters. For office chairs with swivel or reclining functions, the swivel mechanism must withstand 20,000 cycles of rotation with a torque of 35 Newton-meters to verify the wear resistance of bearings and seals. The reclining function must be tested for a relative displacement of less than 8 millimeters between the seat cushion and backrest when the backrest is tilted to its maximum angle to prevent the user's clothing from being caught in the gap.

Gas Spring Durability Test: A gas spring durability tester is used to repeatedly simulate lifting and lowering forces to accurately determine whether the cylinder leaks gas or experiences support failure.
