Office Chair Cushion Tutorial

Here are the usage and making tutorials for office chair cushions:

Usage Tutorial
- Cushion Selection: Prioritize memory foam cushions with a groove in the middle. These can automatically shape according to body temperature and effectively disperse pressure. It is recommended to have two types of thickness: a 5-centimeter thin cushion and an 8-10-centimeter thick cushion. The width should cover the entire back, and the height should extend from the waistband position to the middle of the shoulder blades.
- Placement Method: Place the 5-centimeter thin cushion horizontally in the middle of the chair back, with the position pressing against two fingers above the waistband. Insert the 8-10-centimeter thick cushion vertically between the thin cushion and the chair back, and adjust the support angle to 95-110 degrees (the angle between the chair back and the seat cushion) to ensure a natural fit for the waist.
- Posture Coordination: Keep your back fully in contact with the support surface of the cushion, sink your buttocks deep into the chair, place your feet flat on the ground, and keep your knees slightly lower than your hip joints. The highest point of the cushion's arc should be aligned with the deepest part of the waist dimple (directly behind the navel) to make the waist fit closely with the seat cushion and avoid suspension.
- Function Adjustment: If the cushion has massage or hot compress functions, start with the low gear for the first use and gradually adjust to a suitable intensity. The hot compress temperature should be controlled between 40-50 degrees Celsius to prevent low-temperature burns.
Simple Making Tutorial
- Material Preparation: Cut a piece of fabric that is 1.1 meters long and 60 centimeters wide. Fold it in half and cut out the armrest curve along the edge. Also, cut another piece of fabric measuring 50 centimeters by 1 meter as the main body of the seat cushion.
- Sewing Steps:
- Measure and draw a line at a width of 25 centimeters on the seat cushion fabric. After stretching, the actual width should be 50 centimeters to ensure an appropriate fluffiness after filling.
- Sew the armrest fabric and the seat cushion fabric with their right sides facing each other, making sure to align the edges.
- Fold the entire fabric in half and sew the two side edges, leaving a 10-15-centimeter gap for filling with cotton. Finally, close the opening with a needle and thread or a sewing machine.
- Filling Completion: Stuff an appropriate amount of cotton through the reserved gap, adjust the distribution evenly, and then sew the edges with tight stitches to ensure the cushion has a full and durable shape.
Precautions
- Appropriate Support: If you can easily insert your fist between your waist and the cushion when sitting upright, it indicates insufficient support. If there is no gap at all, it may compress blood vessels and affect blood circulation.
- Regular Movement: Even when using a cushion, you should still get up and move around for 5 minutes every 30 minutes, accompanied by simple stretching exercises, to further relieve waist muscle fatigue.
