The Cushion of the Office Chair Falls Off

Admin October 11, 2026

If the cushion of the office chair falls off, you can choose a repair method based on the type and extent of the damage, as follows:

If it is the detachment of the cushion or lining fabric, first determine the material and degree of aging. If the detached part is made of leather and has not severely aged and hardened, you can use the adhesive method: Wipe clean the detached part and the baseboard, evenly apply automotive interior-specific adhesive or liquid adhesive, and press firmly to bond when the adhesive is semi-dry. If the lining fabric cannot be fully lifted, you can use the "syringe adhesive injection method" to inject the adhesive into the gap between the lining fabric and the baseboard. If the leather has aged and hardened or the adhesive effect is poor, you can use the nail-and-buckle method: Use special repair nails or buckles to pierce through the lining fabric and into the baseboard to ensure a firm fixation.

If the cushion is a sponge pad that has fallen off, first check the cause of the fall. If it is due to a broken buckle, replace it with a new one. If it is due to adhesive failure, prepare an appropriate adhesive such as strong polyurethane adhesive. During repair, first clean the residual adhesive layer and dust on the bottom of the seat, align the sponge pad with its original position, evenly apply the adhesive to the contact surface or fixed part according to the adhesive instructions, and wait for the adhesive to fully dry and cure (usually 2-4 hours, refer to the adhesive instructions for the specific time). Avoid moving or applying force to the sponge pad during this period. If you are not familiar with the operation or are concerned about the repair effect, you can go to a professional automotive repair shop or automotive interior modification shop for handling.

If the fabric at the bottom of the chair has fallen off, you can replace it yourself. First, thoroughly clean the old fabric and residual adhesive layer to ensure a flat and clean surface of the baseboard. Prepare new fabric such as thickened non-woven fabric or high-density polyester fabric, with a size about 2 centimeters larger than the frame at the bottom of the chair on all sides for trimming the edges after pasting. Evenly apply white latex (woodworking glue), soft universal adhesive, or special soft repair adhesive to the contact surface between the baseboard and the new fabric. After pasting, press firmly with a heavy object or a scraper to ensure there are no air bubbles or wrinkles. Trim the excess fabric after the adhesive has completely dried.

Pay attention to safety during the repair process. Avoid contact with open flames when using flammable adhesives and keep the area well-ventilated after operation. If the damage is severe or the repair effect is poor, it is recommended to contact professional repair personnel or replace the chair with a new one.
