Office Chair Cushion Curve
The front edge of an office chair cushion is designed to be curved to reduce the pressure-bearing area on the back of the thighs, disperse pressure, lower pressure intensity, and enhance comfort.

From an ergonomic perspective, the contact between the back of the thighs and the front edge of the cushion when sitting in an office chair directly affects the comfort and healthiness of the sitting posture. If the front edge of the cushion is flat, the contact area between the back of the thighs and the cushion will be a line. Under the influence of body weight, the pressure on this line will be relatively concentrated. Maintaining such a sitting posture for a long time will cause a significant sense of pressure on the back of the thighs, and may even lead to uncomfortable symptoms such as numbness and pain.
However, when the front edge of the cushion curves gently downward like a waterfall, forming a soft arc, the situation is quite different. This design changes the contact between the back of the thighs and the cushion from a 'tangent point' to a 'supporting surface'. The pressure that was originally concentrated on a line can now be dispersed over a wider material area. From a geometric perspective, the contact area changes from a line to a curved surface. When the gravitational force acting on the human body remains unchanged, according to the pressure formula $P = F/S$ (where $P$ represents pressure intensity, $F$ represents pressure, and $S$ represents the force-bearing area), as the force-bearing area $S$ increases, the pressure intensity $P$ will decrease. In other words, this curved design effectively reduces the pressure per unit area on the back of the thighs.
In addition, this design can better fit the natural curve of the human thighs, providing more even and comfortable support for the thighs in a sitting position. It helps maintain a correct sitting posture, reduces physical fatigue and injuries caused by improper sitting postures, and improves comfort and efficiency during long hours of office work.
