Office Chair Cushion Cleaning
Admin October 22, 2026
The cleaning method for office chair cushions should be selected according to the cushion type, as follows:

Sponge Cushions For non-removable types, follow these steps:
- Surface Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner to suck up dust, or manually pat it (e.g., with a hanger to gently tap). It is recommended to wear a mask when there is a lot of dust to prevent inhalation.
- Stubborn Stain Treatment: Use a slightly damp and wrung-out cloth dipped in a small amount of dry cleaning solution or water-based cleaner. Gently wipe the stained area multiple times to avoid deforming the sponge with excessive force. Then, wipe twice with a clean damp cloth to thoroughly remove any cleaner residue.
- Deep Cleaning and Drying: If the sponge becomes hard due to long-term use, immerse the entire cushion in water and squeeze it to expel internal dust and dirt. After washing, place it in a cool, ventilated area to dry naturally, or use an electric fan or low-temperature hairdryer to speed up the drying process (avoid high temperatures that can cause sponge aging). For removable types, cleaning is simpler: Soak the cushion in warm water, add an appropriate amount of neutral detergent, manually scrub it, rinse it thoroughly with clean water, and then let it dry.
Mesh Cushions
- Initial Dust Removal: Use a vacuum cleaner to fully suck up surface dust, ensuring that the mesh holes are not blocked.
- Cleaner Treatment: Spray diluted cleaner onto the cushion, or directly pour it into a watering can for spraying. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the stains to decompose.
- Extraction and Drying: Use a steam cleaner and high-temperature washing machine alternately to extract at least twice. While cleaning, use a water extractor to absorb moisture, shortening the drying time and preventing bacteria growth on the mesh due to dampness.
Fabric Cushions
- Surface Stain Treatment: When the stained area is only on the surface, do not directly scrub it with a brush. Instead, gently wipe it with a damp towel to avoid damaging the fabric fibers.
- Overall Cleaning: If the stains are deep, use diluted neutral cleaner. After cleaning, be sure to rinse with clean water and wipe dry the moisture to prevent the cleaner residue from causing the fabric to discolor or harden.
Precautions:
- Confirm the cushion material before cleaning to avoid using strong acids, strong alkalis, or bleach, which can damage the material.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight during drying to prevent accelerated material aging or fading.
- Regular cleaning (recommended every 3-6 months) can extend the cushion's lifespan and maintain a hygienic environment.
