Office Chair Creation Process

Admin October 09, 2026

The creation process of an office chair typically includes five steps: material preparation, material processing, component assembly, testing, packaging, and shipping.

  1. Material Preparation Prepare basic materials such as chair legs, seat cushions, backrests, screws, steel plates, steel tubes, leather, and sponge according to the design drawings. Material selection should balance strength (e.g., metal frames), comfort (e.g., high-density sponge), and durability (e.g., abrasion-resistant leather), ensuring compliance with ergonomic and safety standards.

  2. Material Processing

    • Metal Frame Processing: Use a hydraulic press to bend square steel tubes into a four-corner curved base frame. Weld support steel plates and reinforce frame openings to enhance load-bearing capacity.
    • Spring and Support Structure: Secure S-shaped springs to the frame and connect support steel bars in the middle to distribute pressure and prevent deformation after long-term use.
    • Backrest Frame Construction: Process components such as the spine and armrest attachments, grind down steel burrs to avoid scratches, and ensure a smooth surface.
    • Leather and Sponge Processing: Lay out the leather flat and cut it using a template, avoiding natural flaws. Cut sponge of the same size as the leather to serve as the core material for the seat's soft layer.
  3. Component Assembly

    • Seat Cushion and Backrest Production: Glue the leather onto a hard foam cushion, cutting it slightly larger to allow for sewing allowances. Sew the leather folds to form the contours of the backrest's leather surface.
    • Metal Frame Decoration: Wrap foam pads around the surface of the metal frame, slip on the sewn leather cover, install a cover plate, and secure it with screws to enhance aesthetics.
    • Functional Component Installation: Assemble adjustable armrests, hydraulic rods, gas springs, and bottom support rods, connecting them to the metal base. Install wheels and secure the headrest and armrests in designated positions.
    • Stability Reinforcement: Add a layer of particleboard behind the backrest before installing the sponge, and attach a cover with screw holes to the base to connect the support structure. Integrate a hydraulic lift mechanism, 360-degree rotating bearings, and casters into the support frame.
  4. Testing Conduct pressure tests, rotation tests, and load-bearing experiments to check the stability (e.g., wheel smoothness, frame resistance to deformation) and comfort (e.g., seat cushion resilience, backrest fit) of the office chair, ensuring compliance with design parameters.

  5. Packaging and Shipping Wrap the finished product with scratch-resistant materials, secure all components to prevent shifting during transportation, and finally deliver it to the customer's designated location to complete the delivery.
