Office Chair Cracking Repair
Admin October 08, 2026
The repair method for cracking in office chairs depends on their material, and different materials require different repair approaches.

Leather Office Chair Repair
- Cleaning: Pour the oil-removing cleaner onto a sponge, fully wet it, and then wipe the smooth leather surface that needs treatment. After wiping several times, gently wipe off the residual liquid with a cotton cloth. This step is to remove dirt and grease from the leather surface, preparing it for subsequent repair work.
- Deep Cleaning: Repeat the above cleaning steps using a strong cleaner to further deeply clean the leather, ensuring the surface is clean and free of impurities.
- Repair: Use a scraper to evenly apply the leather repair paste to the cracked area. Dry it with a hairdryer (15 - 25 minutes; natural drying is better). After it is completely dry, sand it smooth with 400 - 600 grit sandpaper. If the repair effect is not satisfactory, repeat this process and finally sand it smooth. If there is a large hole on the surface, find a piece of similar leather slightly larger than the hole, attach it to the hole area with 3M glue, and after it is firmly attached, repair the gap with the repair paste and sand it after drying.
- Color Matching: According to the color-matching principle, pour the required colors into a color-mixing cup and mix them with a color-mixing pen. After determining the final color, pour it into a bucket in proportion for preparation. For complex colors, corresponding dye solutions can be added to make the colors more vivid.
- Refurbishment and Color Change: Shake the oil-based leather color-changing paint for 3 - 5 minutes to fully mix it, load it into a spray gun, and spray it onto the smooth leather surface in a cross-hatch pattern. After the first spray, let it dry naturally before spraying a second time. Generally, two even sprays yield the best results. However, since this method requires a spray gun and an air compressor and is subject to technical limitations, it is generally suitable for use in leather care shops and leather goods factories, and is not recommended for home individuals.
- Maintenance: Dip a sponge in a small amount of leather maintenance essence cream and evenly apply it to the smooth leather surface. After it dries, gently polish it with a polishing machine.

If cracking occurs, first fix it with screws. If there is no leakage, choose longer screws to make the broken part more firmly connected. Then fill the screw holes with wood powder and sand it vigorously until the surface is smooth.
In addition, leather seats need regular maintenance and cleaning to avoid scratches from sharp objects and long-term exposure to the sun to prevent aging and cracking.
