Office Chair Cover Material

Admin October 08, 2026

Common materials for office chair covers include genuine leather, ordinary PU or PVC leather, and microfiber, each with its own characteristics.

Genuine Leather: It offers the best texture, thanks to its natural fiber structure. This structure provides excellent breathability, making users feel drier and more comfortable during prolonged sitting compared to most synthetic leathers. Additionally, genuine leather has good extensibility and resilience, allowing it to gradually adapt to the user's body shape over time, providing a more tailored support that effectively reduces body pressure and enhances the sitting experience. However, genuine leather also has some drawbacks. Its relatively high price increases the cost of purchasing office chairs. Moreover, genuine leather is sensitive to water and sunlight; prolonged exposure to moisture and sunlight can damage it, affecting its lifespan and appearance. Furthermore, regular maintenance is required to keep genuine leather in good condition, which undoubtedly increases usage costs and maintenance complexity.

Ordinary PU or PVC Leather: These materials are relatively inexpensive, making them attractive to budget-conscious consumers. However, they have poor aging resistance and typically develop cracks and peeling after two to three years of use, not only affecting the appearance of office chairs but also reducing their lifespan and necessitating frequent replacements. In the long run, they may not be cost-effective.

Microfiber: It belongs to the high-end category of synthetic leathers. Microfiber is wear-resistant and hydrolysis-resistant, capable of withstanding daily friction and moisture erosion, ensuring the integrity and durability of office chair covers. Its breathability is superior to that of ordinary synthetic leathers, providing users with a relatively comfortable sitting experience. In terms of price, microfiber falls between genuine leather and ordinary PU or PVC leather. Considering its performance and price, it is a stable and cost-effective choice for seat upholstery, meeting certain quality requirements without imposing excessive financial burdens on consumers.
