Office Chair Countries

Admin October 08, 2026

Information related to 'office chair countries' mainly involves product quality supervision, recall incidents, and configuration standards.

Product Quality Supervision and Recalls

Different countries have stringent quality supervision for office chairs and implement recalls for products with safety hazards. On March 2, 2023, the United States and Canada recalled office chairs made in China due to the risk of backrest breakage, which posed a falling hazard. At that time, 12 reports had been received, including 10 injury cases. On January 16, 2025, the United States recalled the WorkPro Momentum office chairs made in China again, this time due to the potential failure of bolts, posing a falling hazard. Seven reports had been received, with two minor injuries. These recall incidents indicate that importing countries have strict requirements for the quality and safety performance of office chairs and will take timely measures to ensure consumer safety once issues are identified.

In China, the State Administration for Market Regulation also attaches great importance to the quality supervision of office chairs. On September 30, 2024, during a national supervision and inspection of office chairs by the State Administration for Market Regulation, 15 batches of products were found to be unqualified, with stability issues being particularly prominent. This reflects deficiencies in quality control among some domestic office chair manufacturers, necessitating stronger supervision and rectification.

Office Chair Configuration Standards

China also has clear standards for the configuration of office chairs. According to the 'Configuration Standards for Office Equipment and Furniture in Central State Organs (Trial)' issued by the National Government Offices Administration, positions at the department head level and above can be configured with one office chair and one desk chair; positions at the deputy department head level can also be configured with one office chair and one desk chair; and positions at the section level and below can be configured with one office chair. This standard provides a clear basis for the configuration of office furniture in central state organs, helping to standardize the procurement and use of office furniture.

Standard Development Trends

In 2026, several national standard review meetings and seminars related to office furniture will be held, including the review meeting for three national standards such as 'Office Furniture - Reading Tables, Chairs, and Stools'. The convening of these meetings will further improve the national standard system for office furniture, enhance the quality and safety performance of office furniture, and provide consumers with higher-quality and safer products.
