Removal of the Corner Frame of an Office Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

The corner frame (frame body) of an office chair can be removed. The specific operation steps and precautions are as follows:

I. Operation Steps

  1. Prepare Tools
Prepare screwdrivers, wrenches, rubber hammers, and spraying agents (or lubricants) in advance. Screwdrivers are used to disassemble small screws, wrenches are used to turn nuts, rubber hammers are used to gently tap and loosen components, and spraying agents can assist in dealing with rusted or tightly fastened screws.

  2. Disassemble the Base and Armrests

    • Base Separation: Invert the swivel chair and place it on a soft surface (such as a carpet) to prevent scratching the chair surface or the floor. Use a wrench to loosen the screws between the base and the chair chassis, and separate the base.
    • Backrest Removal: Place the swivel chair upright, find the connecting nuts between the backrest and the chair body, and use a wrench to loosen and remove the backrest.
    • Armrest Removal: Invert the chair again, locate the nuts connecting the armrests to the chair bottom, and use a wrench to remove the nuts and take off the armrests.
  3. Remove the Frame Body

    • Loosen the Screws: Use a rubber hammer to gently tap the screws connecting the frame body to the chair body to loosen them. If the screws are difficult to remove due to rust or long-term tightening, spray an appropriate amount of lubricant or spraying agent around the screws and wait for 5-10 minutes before attempting to tap again.
    • Complete Removal: After the screws are loosened, use a wrench to turn the screws counterclockwise until the frame body is completely separated from the chair body.

II. Precautions

  1. Operation Safety

    • Before disassembly, ensure that the chair is placed on a stable and soft surface to prevent the chair body from sliding or scratching the floor when inverted.
    • If the bracket is tightly connected to the chair, do not use brute force to tap or twist it to prevent damage to the chair body structure or the bracket threads.
  2. Tool Use

    • When using a wrench, grasp the force to avoid excessive force that may cause the screw head to slip or scratch the surface of the footrest.
    • The rubber hammer is only used to gently tap and loosen components and cannot replace professional tools for violent disassembly.
  3. Component Storage
The removed screws, nuts, and connectors should be stored separately. It is recommended to use small containers or sealed bags for storage to avoid loss or confusion and facilitate subsequent reassembly.

  4. Handling of Special Situations
If the screws are severely rusted and cannot be loosened, try briefly heating the area around the screws with a hot air gun (be careful to control the temperature to avoid damaging the chair surface material) or contact a professional maintenance technician for assistance.
