Office Chair Connection

Admin October 08, 2026

The connection steps for an office chair are typically divided into the following five parts, which should be carried out in order to ensure structural stability:

1. Connection of the chair base and gas lift
Place the chair base flat on the ground, ensuring the central hole is facing upwards and free of obstructions. Insert the gas lift vertically into the central hole and press gently until it is fully embedded. A clicking sound or the disappearance of resistance indicates that it is properly installed. Pay attention to the direction of the gas lift in this step to avoid tilting, which could cause wobbling during subsequent use. If the chair base is equipped with casters, press the wheels firmly into the holes at the ends of the chair base before this step, and listen for a clicking sound to confirm they are locked in place.

2. Connection of the seat and gas lift
Flip the seat upside down to expose the bottom, and locate the central mounting hole at the bottom. Align the mounting hole with the top of the gas lift and press down slowly until you hear a clicking sound, indicating that the catch has locked. Keep the gas lift vertical during operation to avoid damaging the catch with sideways force. Some seats may be equipped with anti-slip pads or adjustment knobs; check that these are properly installed as well.

3. Connection of the backrest and seat

  • Pre-installed backrest: If the backrest and seat are already connected via hinges (as in some integrated designs), adjust the angle to a vertical position and test whether the adjustment function works properly.
  • Separate backrest: Requires screws for fixation. For example, the W809 office chair requires inserting the backrest rod into the tray groove, tightening the knob, and then snapping on the decorative cover; the DJ-11 office chair requires aligning the angle adjuster with the screw holes on the backrest, securing it with the provided screws, and then fixing the angle adjuster and backrest together onto the seat. Align the holes properly during operation to avoid stripping the screws.

4. Connection of the armrests and seat
Align the armrests with the screw holes on both sides of the seat and secure them with the provided screws. For example, the W809 office chair requires four slender screws to fix the armrest connectors; the DJ-11 office chair requires eight large screws. Pay attention to the symmetry of the left and right armrests during installation to avoid tilting, which could affect the user experience. It is recommended to manually screw in the screws first to confirm that the holes are aligned, and then tighten them with a tool.

5. Connection of additional components

  • Headrest: Insert its rod into the reserved hole at the top of the backrest, rotate it to the desired height, and test its adjustability.
  • Lumbar support: Secure it to the middle of the backrest with Velcro or catches, adjusting its position to fit the curve of the lower back.
  • Casters: If not installed in the first step, install them at this stage using the same method as for the chair base.

After completing all steps, thoroughly check that all connections are secure, shake the chair to confirm there is no looseness, and test the adjustment functions (such as height adjustment and reclining) to ensure they work properly.
