Office Chair and Conference Chair Adjustment
The adjustment methods for office chairs (including conference chairs) mainly include dimensions such as height, recline, headrest, armrest, and seat cushion forward movement. The specific operation should be selected according to the chair model.

Height Adjustment
Height adjustment is the most basic function of an office chair, suitable for adapting to different heights or desk heights. When operating, locate the handle or control lever beneath the seat:
- Conventional Lever Type: Some chairs lift the seat by pulling up the lever and lower it by pressing down the lever. Pneumatic lift models require repeated up-and-down pushing of the lever for smooth lifting and lowering.
- Adjustment Standard: After adjustment, ensure that your eyes are level with the computer monitor or that your elbows are at the same height as the desk surface, while keeping your feet flat on the ground to avoid hanging or excessive forward stretching.
Recline Adjustment
The recline function can relieve fatigue from prolonged sitting, with significant differences in operation across different models:
- Mechanical Knob Type: For example, the Steelcase Gesture achieves infinite adjustment from 15ยฐ to 135ยฐ by rotating the metal knob on the left side of the backrest clockwise. The green marking line indicates 135ยฐ as the optimal recline angle recommended by ergonomics.
- Pneumatic Rod Linkage Type: For example, the Herman Miller Aeron requires pressing and holding the red button on the lower right side of the seat cushion for 3 seconds, slowly straightening the back to an upright position, releasing the button, and then holding the handles on both sides of the pneumatic rod with both hands to allow the seat to automatically complete adaptive recline.
- Smart Touch Type: For example, the ErgoHuman series connects to the seat via an app and inputs height and weight data. The system generates a three-dimensional adjustment plan including recline angle, seat depth, and lumbar support height.
Other Adjustment Functions
- Headrest Adjustment: Some chairs (such as the Qingxian Dynamic Ergonomic Chair) support height adjustment of the headrest by pulling it up, and some models can also be adjusted forward and backward to fit the neck curve.
- Armrest Adjustment: If the chair is equipped with armrests, they can be adjusted up and down to accommodate different task needs (such as typing or resting), or even removed to avoid space obstruction.
- Seat Cushion Forward Movement: Before adjusting the recline, push the seat to maintain a distance of one fist from the front edge of the desk. Keep your feet flat on the ground with your heels aligned with the desk legs. At this point, the front edge of the seat cushion should just touch the middle of your thighs to avoid pressure.
Precautions: Read the instruction manual before adjustment to confirm the operation method and avoid mechanical damage due to misoperation. If the chair is equipped with smart functions, ensure stable device connection before inputting data.
