Office Chair Component Names

Admin October 12, 2026

The main component names of office chairs include casters, chair legs, gas cylinders (height-adjustable rods), bases, seats, armrests, backrest-seat connectors (corner brackets), backrests (backrest steel frames), lumbar pillows, headrests, trays. Some executive chairs also include neck pillows, five-star bases, and rollers.

Casters are small wheels at the bottom of an office chair, usually installed beneath the chair legs, facilitating free movement of the chair on the ground, reducing friction and resistance, and enhancing ease of use. Chair legs are the frame structures that support the entire chair, commonly available in shapes like five-star and four-star bases, mostly made of metal or plastic, serving to stabilize the chair.

Gas cylinders (height-adjustable rods) are key components for adjusting the chair's height, enabling the chair to rise and fall through internal air pressure changes to meet the usage needs of users of different heights. The base connects the gas cylinder and the seat, serving to fix and support the seat, and may also have some adjustment functions, such as forward and backward sliding of the seat and tilt angle adjustment.

The seat is the part where the user sits directly, and its shape and material affect the comfort of the sitting experience. Common materials include sponge and mesh. Armrests provide support for the user's arms, reducing arm fatigue, and their height and angle are usually adjustable to adapt to different usage scenarios.

The backrest-seat connector (corner bracket) is used to connect the backrest and the seat, ensuring the stability of the backrest. The backrest (backrest steel frame) is the main supporting structure of the chair, providing support for the user's back, and its shape and curvature design affect the comfort and healthiness of the sitting posture. Lumbar pillows offer additional lumbar support, reducing lumbar pressure and preventing lumbar diseases. Headrests provide support for the user's head, relieving neck fatigue.

The tray is a component installed beneath the seat, used to fix and support the seat, and may also have some adjustment functions. Some executive chairs are also equipped with neck pillows to provide more comprehensive support for users; five-star bases and rollers are unique components of some executive chairs, with the five-star base enhancing the chair's stability and the rollers facilitating chair movement.
