Office Chair Components

Admin October 12, 2026

The components of an office chair mainly include casters, chair legs, gas cylinders, bases, seats, armrests, backrest-seat connectors (corner brackets), backrests, lumbar pillows, headrests, trays, five-star feet, and footrests, among others.

Casters are key components for the mobility of office chairs, typically coming in two types: regular casters and PU wheels. Due to the soft material properties of PU wheels, they are suitable for use on wooden floors and in computer rooms, helping to avoid scratching the floor. The material of chair legs is mostly iron frames, and their thickness affects the chair's service life. Surface treatment methods include polishing, painting, baking paint, and electroplating, with chairs that have high-quality electroplating being less prone to rust.

The gas cylinder, also known as the telescopic rod, can adjust the chair's height and rotation, facilitating users in adjusting their sitting posture. The base is the core component of an office chair, supporting the seat and connecting to the gas cylinder, responsible for functions such as lifting and tilting. The seat is composed of wood, sponge, and fabric. The quality of the wood is not easily noticeable, while the quality and thickness of the sponge directly affect comfort. Fabric options include linen, mesh, and leather, among others.

The thickness of the armrests affects their quality, with thicker ones being more durable. There are various functional classifications, such as fixed armrests, 1D armrests, and 2D armrests, which can provide arm support and reduce shoulder and back pressure. The backrest-seat connector (corner bracket) is used to connect the separate seat and backrest, made of steel pipes or steel plates, with specific requirements for the thickness and width of the steel plates. The backrest is made of a steel frame or plastic frame combined with mesh fabric, offering breathability. There are various material and functional classifications, and backrests with adjustable angles can adapt to different sitting postures.

The design of the lumbar pillow reflects the chair's comfort, with various material and layout classifications. An appropriate lumbar pillow can reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting. The headrest also reflects comfort, with functional classifications including fixed headrests, 1D headrests, 2D headrests, and elastic headrests, which can provide neck support and reduce neck fatigue. The tray enables tilting and lifting functions. The five-star feet have various shape and usage classifications, such as five-star feet and bow-shaped iron frames, with material classifications including plastic, iron pipes, aluminum alloys, and wood, providing stable support and ensuring chair safety. The footrest is an optional functional accessory, suitable for office workers without a lunch break bed.
