Office Chair Combination for Nap
Admin October 17, 2026
Combining office chairs for a nap can be achieved by adjusting existing chairs or combining other stools. Here are the specific methods:

I. Adjusting the Posture Using Existing Office Chairs
If the office chair has adjustable functions (such as backrest angle and wheel locking), the following steps can be taken to achieve a nap:
- Adjust the Backrest Angle: Rotate the bottom of the chair to the left until it is fully relaxed (some chairs may require unlocking the backrest adjustment button), allowing the backrest to recline backward to about 140 degrees. This angle is close to the natural curvature of the spine when lying flat, reducing lumbar pressure and avoiding muscle fatigue caused by prolonged upright sitting.
- Lock the Wheels (if applicable): If the chair has casters, lock them or increase friction (such as by placing a carpet underneath) to prevent sliding and ensure stability when leaning back.
- Support the Legs: Pull another office chair of the same model beside you, adjust it to be parallel to the main chair, and place your legs flat on the seat of the auxiliary chair. This method can disperse leg pressure and prevent blood pooling, but ensure the distance between the two chairs is appropriate (about shoulder-width apart) to avoid body twisting.
II. Combining Fixed Stools to Build a Platform
If the office environment allows, four fixed stools without casters (such as plastic stools or wooden stools) can be combined to form a simple nap platform:
- Choose Stable Stools: Prioritize stools with a wide base and low center of gravity, avoiding those with thin legs or that are prone to wobbling.
- Arrangement Method: Arrange the four stools in pairs side by side to form two long support surfaces. The front stools are used to support the upper body (the backrest can lean against a wall or file cabinet for added stability), and the rear stools are used to place the legs, keeping the body straight.
- Add Cushioning Material: Place a soft cushion or folded towel on the stool surface to enhance comfort and reduce pressure from hard surfaces on the body.
Precautions:
- It is recommended to limit nap time to 20-30 minutes to avoid dizziness after waking up from deep sleep.
- Move slowly when adjusting your posture to prevent falls due to chair imbalance.
- If you need to nap regularly, consider purchasing a dedicated nap chair or folding bed, which are designed to be more ergonomic and safer.
