Office Chair Cleaning Tips

Admin October 16, 2026

For cleaning office chairs, you can refer to the following tips, covering wheel cleaning, overall wiping, and wheel maintenance:

Wheel Cleaning

  1. Hair Entanglement Handling:
    • The basic method is to use small scissors to cut off the entangled hair one by one, but this is time-consuming. It is recommended to adopt a 3-step disassembly and cleaning method:
      • Disassemble the Wheels: Turn the office chair upside down, hold the wheel bracket with your hand and pull it out (if it is stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edge of the buckle), take it out and check for hair and debris.
      • Deep Cleaning: Use tweezers to pick out long hairs and fibers from the gaps in the wheels (operate in the direction of rotation), then use an old toothbrush dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent to brush the surface and bearing gaps, and finally rinse with water (avoid getting water into the bearings), dry and ventilate for 10 minutes.
    • Quick Cleaning Method: Wrap the wheels with a damp face towel that has been air-dried (with the concave-convex side facing outwards), fix it with rubber bands, and then sit on the chair and move back and forth. The dirt will be transferred to the face towel. Repeat the operation until it is clean, and finally wipe the floor.
  2. Subsequent Protection: Wrap the wheels with invisible tape (with an appropriate width and moderate stickiness), keep the surface slightly wrinkled to increase friction, reduce dirt residue on the floor, and there is almost no tape residue after tearing it off. The operation only takes 1 minute.

Overall Chair Wiping Follow the principle of "top to bottom" and clean the chair back, seat cushion, armrests, and chair legs in sequence to ensure no omissions. The cloth should be slightly damp and not dripping to avoid water stains and moisture. For stubborn stains, you can dip a small amount of neutral detergent and wipe gently. Avoid using strongly corrosive detergents that may damage the surface material.

Wheel Maintenance

  1. Lubrication: After the wheels are dry, drop 1-2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment at the bearings (do not use cooking oil to prevent dust adsorption), and rotate the wheels to distribute the lubricating oil evenly.
  2. Reinstallation: Align the wheels with the bracket buckles, gently push until you hear a "click" sound to confirm that they are firmly installed, turn the chair upright, and then push it to test the smoothness. If there is still stuttering, check for residual debris.
  3. Regular Maintenance: It is recommended to clean the wheels once a month and lubricate them regularly to extend their service life and maintain smoothness.

Through systematic cleaning and maintenance, you can effectively improve the hygiene and user experience of office chairs, and at the same time reduce functional losses caused by dirt accumulation.
