Key Points for Office Chair Cleaning

Admin October 09, 2026

The key points for office chair cleaning vary depending on the material and components, as detailed below:

Wheel Cleaning: Most office chair wheels are designed with a snap-on mechanism. You can gently pull the wheel bracket outward with your hand. If it's stuck tightly, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry open the edge of the snap-on part to disassemble and remove any trapped debris. Use tweezers to pick out long hairs and carpet fibers from the gaps along the direction of wheel rotation. Then, use an old toothbrush dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent to scrub the wheel surface and bearing gaps. After that, rinse the wheels with clean water (be careful to avoid getting water into the bearings), wipe them dry, and let them air-dry for 10 minutes. After drying, apply 1-2 drops of special lubricant for office equipment to the bearings, rotate the wheels to evenly distribute the lubricant, then align the wheels with the bracket snaps and push them in until you hear a 'click' sound. Finally, push the chair to test if it rolls smoothly.

Mesh Seat Cleaning: First, use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove dust. Then, dilute a cleaning agent and spray it on the chair, allowing the cleaning agent to sit for a while. Next, use a steamer and a high-temperature cleaning machine alternately for at least two rounds of extraction cleaning. At the same time, use a water extractor to dry the cleaned chair and speed up the drying process.

Fabric Office Chair Cleaning: For dry dirt such as dust and sand, gently pat it off or use a vacuum cleaner to suck it up. If it gets stained with drinks or fruit juice, first use a paper towel to absorb the moisture, then use warm water to dissolve a neutral detergent for wiping. Finally, wipe it dry with a clean soft cloth and dry it at a low temperature.

Leather Office Chair Cleaning: After purchasing, apply a layer of protective wax to create a protective film and prevent dust and sweat stains from penetrating the pores. Do not wipe it with water to prevent the leather from hardening. Clean up any stains promptly. Clean and maintain it with protective wax once a month, and once a week in summer. Generally, wipe it gently with a clean and soft cloth. For long-term stains, first wipe with a neutral detergent diluted with warm water (1%โ€“3%), then use a wrung-out damp cloth to remove the cleaning solution, and finally polish it with a dry cloth. After it is completely dry, apply an appropriate amount of leather conditioner evenly.

Metal Accessory Cleaning: Regularly wipe them with an oiled cloth and a mild cleaning agent. If there are rust spots, repair and repaint them promptly. Avoid using a wet cloth when wiping the surface.

Caster Cleaning: Since they roll on the ground, the wheel axles can easily accumulate lint and fibers over time and need regular cleaning. You can use an anti-static spray to protect the chair wheels and ensure smooth rolling.

Base Tilt Cleaning: If there is any abnormal noise, you can spray WD-40 lubricant on the axis joints and springs, etc.
