Office Chair Cleaning and Maintenance

Admin October 10, 2026

Office chair cleaning and maintenance require targeted methods based on different parts and types of stains, as detailed below:

Seat Surface Cleaning

  • Small stains on fabric and leather surfaces: Spray a small amount of foam cleaner onto the stain for about 10 seconds and wipe with a clean, soft cloth. Do not use spot remover, as its chemical components can cause fading or leave marks.
  • Dry dirt (dust, sand): Gently pat the surface or use a vacuum cleaner to remove it; for granular sand, use a soft-bristled brush to gently brush along the grain, avoiding damage to the fabric from hard-bristled brushes.
  • Liquid stains (beverages, fruit juices): First, blot up the moisture with a paper towel, then wipe with a neutral detergent dissolved in warm water, and finally dry with a cloth and dry at a low temperature to prevent mold growth due to moisture.
  • Long-term stubborn stains: Wipe with a neutral cleaner diluted with 1%-3% warm water, rinse off any residue with clean water and dry, then apply an appropriate amount of leather conditioner after complete drying to restore surface luster and form a protective film.

Overall Wiping Process

Clean in the order of backrest โ†’ seat cushion โ†’ armrests โ†’ legs from top to bottom, ensuring no omissions. The cloth should be kept slightly damp (not dripping) to prevent moisture penetration that could cause metal parts to rust or wooden structures to deform.

Caster Cleaning

  • Hair entanglement: Carefully cut the tangled hair with small scissors, ensuring the wheels are fixed to prevent rolling during the operation.
  • Dirt cleaning: Partially dry a damp face towel and wrap it around the casters using its textured side, securing it with a rubber band. Move the chair back and forth repeatedly to transfer the dirt onto the face towel, allowing for deep cleaning without disassembling the casters.

Other Maintenance Points

  • Reclining noise: Spray a special lubricant on the pivot joints or springs to reduce noise caused by metal friction.
  • Stability adjustment: If the chair is prone to tipping over, adjust the reclining tension knob to suit your body type, as being too loose can lead to instability.
  • Daily maintenance: Wipe the surface dust with a dry, soft cloth every week and avoid direct sunlight to prevent leather cracking or fabric fading.

Precautions: Before cleaning, confirm the material of the office chair (such as genuine leather, artificial leather, mesh fabric, etc.) and choose the corresponding cleaner; avoid using acidic or corrosive cleaners on metal parts; regularly check the tightness of screws to prevent looseness that could lead to safety hazards.
