Office Chair Cleaning
Admin October 09, 2026
Office chair cleaning can be divided into two parts: caster cleaning and overall cleaning. The specific methods are as follows:

Caster Cleaning
Hair Entanglement Handling
- Disassembling the Casters: Turn the office chair upside down (with the seat facing down, taking care to protect the seat fabric). Hold the caster bracket with your hand and gently pull the caster outward (most are designed with snap-in mechanisms and do not require tools). If it is stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edge of the snap-in mechanism to avoid scratching the bracket.
- Removing Debris: Use tweezers to pick out long hairs and carpet fibers from the gaps along the direction of caster rotation to prevent further hair entanglement. Use an old toothbrush dipped in a small amount of neutral detergent (avoid using strong alkaline cleaners to prevent corrosion of the casters) to gently brush the surface of the casters and the gaps in the bearings to remove dust and grease. Finally, rinse the casters with water (avoid getting water into the bearings), dry them with a dry cloth, and let them air dry for 10 minutes.
- Lubrication and Reassembly: After the casters are dry, drop 1-2 drops of special lubricant for office equipment onto the bearings (avoid using cooking oil to prevent dust absorption). Rotate the casters to evenly distribute the lubricant. Align the casters with the snap-in mechanisms on the brackets and push them in until you hear a 'click' to confirm they are securely installed. Turn the chair back upright and test the smoothness of the casters. If there is still stuttering, check for remaining debris.
Dirt Cleaning
- Prepare a used facial cleansing cloth, moisten it and let it air dry partially. Wrap the side with a textured surface around the casters and secure it with a rubber band. Sit on the chair and move back and forth, using friction to transfer the dirt onto the facial cleansing cloth. Repeat the operation until the casters are clean.
Subsequent Protection
- Stick invisible tape onto the casters. Choose tape with an appropriate width and moderate stickiness to avoid leaving a sticky residue when removed. Keep the tape wrinkled when sticking to increase friction and prevent the casters from being too slippery.
Overall Cleaning
You can perform a 30-minute deep cleaning:
- Prepare gloves, needle-nose pliers, and lubricant. Insert the needle-nose pliers into the slot under the casters and push inward (without removing the casters, using leverage).
- Follow the caster cleaning steps to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble the casters. At the same time, use a soft cloth dipped in a neutral cleaner to wipe the seat, backrest, and other fabric or leather parts of the chair, avoiding the use of strongly corrosive cleaners.
- After cleaning, dry the parts with a dry cloth and let them air dry in a well-ventilated area. Ensure that all parts are dry before using the chair again.
