Office Chair Caster Wheels

The following is information about the caster wheels under office chairs:

Removal and Replacement

The methods for removing and replacing office chair caster wheels vary depending on the type of wheel. For round-stemmed wheels, if you want to remove them, you can try pulling them out directly. If you don't have enough strength, you can use tools. For example, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the connection between the wheel and the chair and pry open the plastic part, or use pliers to grip the stem and then tap it out with a hammer. For wheels with hexagonal screws, removal is relatively simple; just use the matching handle to unscrew the screws. When installing the wheels, align the stemmed wheels with the holes at the bottom of the chair and press them in directly. Ensure they are installed firmly to prevent the wheels from falling off during use.

Function

Office chair caster wheels play an important role. From a physics perspective, they convert sliding friction into rolling friction. Under the same conditions, the frictional force of rolling friction is much less than that of sliding friction. This makes the chair easier to move, allowing people to change positions effortlessly when using an office chair and improving convenience. In addition, sitting on an office chair is more comfortable than sitting on a wooden stool. This is because, with a constant pressure, the caster wheels of an office chair increase the contact area between the chair and the ground, that is, increase theๅ—ๅŠ›้ข็งฏ (bearing area). According to the pressure formula, pressure is equal to force divided by the bearing area. When the bearing area increases, the pressure decreases, thereby reducing the pressure exerted by the chair on the human body and making people feel more comfortable.

Cleaning

Cleaning office chair caster wheels can be divided into two parts. First, deal with tangled hair. Since hair tends to get tangled around the axles and in the crevices of the wheels, you can use very small scissors to carefully cut and remove the tangled hair, taking care not to damage the wheels. Second, clean the dirt. You can wet a used facial cloth and let it air-dry. Wrap the textured side of the facial cloth around the wheel and secure it with a rubber band. Then sit on the chair and move it back and forth. The friction between the wheel and the facial cloth will transfer the dirt to the facial cloth. To prevent the wheels from getting dirty again, you can stick invisible tape on the wheels. Don't make the tape too flat when sticking it; this can block dust and dirt from adhering to a certain extent.
