Office Chair Casters

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chair casters are the core components that enable office chairs to move, typically used in conjunction with five-star bases. Below is information on their installation, cleaning, and industry background:

Installation Method

Taking the T37 hollow caster as an example, installation requires step-by-step operation:

  1. Tray Positioning: Point the arrow on the tray toward the front of the seat cushion to ensure the correct direction;
  2. Backrest Fixation: Align the backrest with the holes on the seat cushion and snap it into the raised position for initial fixation;
  3. Chair Leg and Gas Cylinder Installation: Finally, install the chair legs and gas cylinder to ensure overall structural stability.
    If you need to replace the casters, lay the chair down, pull out the old casters in the opposite direction of the force core, then align the new casters with the holes and insert them firmly, relying on the snap ring for automatic fixation. Pay attention to the force applied during this process to avoid damaging the holes or the caster structure.

Cleaning Tips

  1. Hair Entanglement Handling:
    Use small scissors to carefully cut away hair wrapped around the wheel axle or wheel body surface, avoiding direct pulling that could cause the wheels to jam or be damaged.
  2. Dirt Cleaning:
    Wet a used facial cloth and let it air dry until semi-dry. Wrap the wheel with the raised side of the cloth and secure it with a rubber band. Move the chair back and forth to allow the wheel to rub against the cloth, transferring dirt to the cloth. This method prevents direct liquid contact with the wheel, preventing rust or corrosion.
  3. Preventing Dirt Buildup:
    Stick invisible tape on the wheel surface, choosing a product with moderate adhesion that leaves no residue when removed. Leave slight wrinkles when sticking to increase friction and prevent the wheel from sliding uncontrollably due to excessive smoothness.

Industry Background

The office chair industry has rapidly developed through OEM models since 2000, with Anji County, Zhejiang Province becoming a major global production base and forming a complete supply chain system. According to statistics, China's office chair production reached 177 million units in 2024, with 84.64 million units exported, accounting for a significant proportion of the global market share. This data reflects the market demand for office chair casters as consumable parts and has also driven continuous optimization of caster materials (such as nylon, polyurethane) and designs (such as silent, anti-entanglement).

The maintenance of office chair casters is closely related to industry trends. Proper installation and regular cleaning can extend their service life, while understanding the industry background helps in choosing more reliable products.
