Office Chair Caster Tips
Admin October 16, 2026
The maintenance tips for office chair casters mainly include cleaning, anti-slip treatment, and daily maintenance. Here are the specific methods:

I. Cleaning Tips
Disassembly Cleaning Method
- Removing the Casters: Turn the office chair upside down, hold the caster bracket with your hand, and pull it out directly (no tools are needed for snap-on designs); if it is stuck tightly, use a screwdriver with a soft cloth to pry the edge for assistance.
- Clearing Debris: Check the surface of the casters and the gaps in the bearings for hair, debris, etc. Use tweezers to pick out long hairs from the gaps (operate in the direction of rotation to avoid increased entanglement).
- Deep Cleaning: Dip an old toothbrush in neutral detergent, scrub the surface of the casters and the gaps in the bearings, rinse with water, wipe dry the moisture, and air-dry for 10 minutes in a well-ventilated area (avoid direct sunlight to prevent material aging).
Effort-Saving Cleaning Method
- Initial Treatment: First, clear the tangled hair to reduce subsequent friction resistance.
- Friction Cleaning: Wrap the wheel with a damp and then air-dried face towel (with the concave-convex side facing the wheel), secure it with a rubber band, sit on the chair, and move back and forth to transfer the dirt to the face towel. Repeat the operation until it is clean (suitable for quick daily maintenance).
II. Anti-Slip Treatment Tips
- Using Invisible Tape: Choose invisible tape of an appropriate width and moderate stickiness. Tear it off and wrap it around the surface of the wheel, keeping the tape in a wrinkled state (avoid sticking it too flat to prevent the wheel from being too slippery). It can be completed in one minute. This method can temporarily increase friction and is suitable for smooth floors (such as tiles and wooden floors).
III. Other Maintenance Suggestions
- Lubrication and Resetting: Drop 1-2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment into the bearing, rotate the wheel to distribute the lubricating oil evenly, and then push it into the bracket snap until you hear a 'click' sound (ensure it is installed properly).
- Regular Maintenance: Clean and lubricate the bearings once a month, and avoid placing heavy objects on the casters (to prevent bearing deformation and poor rotation).
- Usage Environment: Avoid using on uneven or damp floors to reduce caster wear and rust risk.
Precautions: Avoid using strong acid or strong alkali cleaners during cleaning to prevent corrosion of the caster material; choose a special type of lubricating oil to avoid oil stains on the floor. Through systematic maintenance, the service life of the casters can be extended and the comfort of use can be improved.
