5-centimeter (50mm) casters are the mainstream balanced choice, designed to balance versatility and stability. With a moderately sized diameter, these casters ensure smooth movement on hard floors (such as tiles and wooden floors) without causing the chair to become unstable due to an excessively high center of gravity. 6-centimeter (60mm) casters are an upgraded performance option, with an increased wheel diameter that enhances passability. In scenarios with short-pile carpets or slightly uneven floors, 6-centimeter casters can more easily overcome minor obstacles, reducing the feeling of stuttering. At the same time, the larger wheel diameter distributes pressure, reducing wear on carpet fibers and extending the carpet's lifespan. 7.5-centimeter (75mm) casters offer the best passability and are suitable for open spaces with complex floor conditions or extremely high requirements for smooth movement. Their large wheel diameter design allows them to easily cross obstacles such as cables and carpet seams, making long-distance movements less strenuous. Additionally, the large wheel diameter reduces rolling resistance, ensuring a smooth moving experience even on thick carpets or uneven floors. These casters are commonly found in large conference rooms, creative studios, and other scenarios requiring frequent movement and open space.
2-inch (approximately 5.08-centimeter) casters are a smaller size, close to that of 5-centimeter casters but with slight differences due to unit conversion. These casters are more commonly seen in early-designed office chairs or specific models. Their performance characteristics are similar to those of 5-centimeter casters, but due to their lower market share, compatibility with chair structures should be considered when choosing them.
