Office Chair Caster Production
Admin October 12, 2026
The production of office chair casters requires attention to both material selection and structural design, along with the assembly process.

Material Selection
Common materials for office chair casters include polyurethane, nylon, rubber, plastic, and metal, each with distinct performance characteristics:
- Polyurethane: Its high density provides wear resistance, oil resistance, and UV resistance, with outstanding strength and durability. It can be used on various floor types (such as wooden floors, tiles, and carpets) and is resistant to high temperatures and aging, making it a preferred material for mid- to high-end office chair casters.
- Nylon: More durable than polyurethane, it can withstand higher weights and friction, causing less wear on floors and offering strong corrosion resistance. However, it generates more noise during operation, making it suitable for scenarios with high demands for load-bearing capacity and floor protection, and where noise tolerance is relatively high.
- Rubber: Excellent cushioning performance effectively reduces impact and noise, providing a smoother user experience. However, its wear resistance is relatively weak, making it suitable for environments where quietness and comfort are prioritized.
- Plastic and Metal: Plastic is low-cost and lightweight but has average durability; metal (such as steel or aluminum alloy) offers high strength but is prone to rusting, requiring surface treatments (such as galvanizing or painting) for rust prevention. It is suitable for scenarios with extremely high load-bearing requirements and dry environments.
Structural Design
Some patents propose improvements by embedding elastic gaskets on the outer or inner sides of the rollers to enhance shock absorption and aesthetics:
- Shock Absorption Principle: The gaskets (made of materials like rubber or silicone) absorb impact forces through elastic deformation, reducing vibration transmission, improving user comfort, and extending the lifespan of both the casters and the floor.
- Structural Details: The caster body features an axle hole and a vertical hole, while the roller and drive shaft connection includes a recess for the gasket. The gasket can be individually replaced to adjust color or performance, balancing functionality with personalization needs.
Assembly Process
Caster assembly typically involves two steps:
- Initial Installation: Insert the caster into the foot column (the support component of the chair base), ensuring alignment of the axle holes.
- Secure Fastening: Use a pneumatic press to press-fit the caster onto the base, ensuring a tight connection through high pressure to prevent loosening and guarantee safety during use.
Material selection must balance performance, cost, and scenario requirements; structural design can optimize comfort and durability; and the assembly process ensures structural stability. Together, these factors determine the final quality of office chair casters.
