Office Chair Caster Fixation

Admin October 10, 2026

There are multiple methods for fixing the casters of office chairs, and you can choose appropriate accessories to achieve the fixation effect according to actual needs.

I. Using Chair Caster Fixers
Chair caster fixers are accessories specifically designed to solve the problem of office chair sliding. Common styles include PVC soft-bottom models and nylon felt models. The PVC soft-bottom models increase friction by contacting the ground with soft PVC material while protecting the floor from scratches. The nylon felt models use the rough surface of the felt to enhance friction and are suitable for use on smooth floors. These fixers are easy to install; simply clip them onto the bottom of the casters to complete the fixation without the need for complex tools or professional operations.

II. Choosing Fixed Casters
There are various fixed casters available on the market, such as fixed corner-insert casters, casters with brake pads, and seat-brake casters. Fixed corner-insert casters are directly fixed to the bottom of the chair through a special structure and cannot move, making them suitable for scenarios that require complete stillness. Casters with brake pads can slide freely under normal conditions but can be fixed by manually operating the brake pads. Seat-brake casters combine the dual functions of movement and fixation; when a person sits on the chair, their weight triggers an internal mechanism to lock the casters, and they automatically unlock when the person stands up, providing both convenience and safety.

III. Selecting Specialized Fixing Accessories
In addition to the above methods, you can also choose specialized accessories such as snap-ring insert foot pads, brake-equipped universal wheels, or rubber slot-type fixers. Snap-ring insert foot pads fix the foot pads onto the casters through a snap-ring structure, increasing friction with the ground. Brake-equipped universal wheels can rotate 360 degrees under normal conditions but can be fixed through a braking device. Rubber slot-type fixers use the elasticity of rubber to clamp the casters in the slots, preventing sliding. These accessories have their own characteristics, and you can choose the most suitable type according to the chair model and usage environment.

IV. Precautions
When fixing the casters of an office chair, ensure that the selected accessories match the chair model to avoid poor fixation effects or damage to the chair due to size mismatches. In addition, clean the casters and the floor before installation to ensure that there are no debris affecting the fixation effect. If using a fixing device that requires manual operation, regularly check its status to ensure normal functionality.
