Office Chair Caster Fixation
Office chair caster fixation can be achieved through the following methods:

I. Using Fixed Foot Pads Fixed foot pads are devices that directly replace the original casters. Designed similarly to fixed supports, they can make the chair completely stationary once inserted. For example, the 2-inch swivel chair fixed caster, a card-spring insertable foot pad for office and computer chairs, connects tightly with the chair legs through a card-spring structure, fixing the chair's position without additional operations after installation. These foot pads are often made of solid rubber or metal, providing stable support and are suitable for scenarios requiring long-term chair fixation, such as in laboratories or beside drafting tables.
II. Brake Pad Fixation Some casters come with built-in brake pads that can be manually operated to achieve fixation. The brake pads are usually located on the side or bottom of the wheels. Users can lock the wheels by simply flipping or pressing the brake device. This design is common in height-adjustable office chairs, allowing users to switch between sliding and fixed states as needed, offering high flexibility. However, it should be noted that the durability of the brake pads is affected by the frequency of use, and long-term frequent operation may lead to wear.
III. Seat-Activated Brake Wheels Seat-activated brake wheels are an intelligent fixation solution that utilizes the user's body weight to trigger a locking mechanism. When the user sits down, the chair's gravity presses the internal structure of the seat-activated brake wheels, automatically locking the wheels; when the user stands up and the pressure disappears, the wheels resume rolling. This design requires no manual operation and is suitable for scenarios requiring frequent state switching, such as in conference rooms or classrooms. However, it is essential to ensure that the chair's weight capacity matches the user's weight; otherwise, it may affect the locking effect.
IV. Chair Caster Fixators Caster fixators are external auxiliary devices that physically restrict the movement of the casters. Common styles include PVC soft-bottom models and nylon felt models. The former increases friction through soft materials, while the latter utilizes the static friction between the felt and the ground for fixation. Installation only requires using a screwdriver to pry open the caster protective cover and inserting the fixator between the wheel and the chair leg. Additionally, rubber slot-type fixators achieve anti-slip by wrapping around the wheels and are suitable for various wheel types.
V. Braked Universal Wheels and Brake Wheels Some universal wheels integrate braking functions, such as 1.5-inch or 2-inch flat universal wheels, which can be fixed using side brake devices. Users can simultaneously lock all wheels by simply flipping the brake lever, making operation straightforward. Another type is the T19 sponge caster model, whose brake wheels are designed to be flipped downward. After flipping the brake lever downward, the internal structure of the wheels locks, preventing the chair from moving. These designs are commonly used in high-end office chairs, balancing smooth sliding with stable fixation.
