Office Chair Caster Disassembly and Assembly
Admin October 16, 2026
The disassembly and assembly methods of office chair casters can be divided into two parts: disassembly and assembly. The specific operations are as follows:

Disassembly Methods
Snap-on Casters
Turn the office chair upside down (with the seat facing downwards), hold the caster bracket with your hand, and pull the caster directly outwards. Most snap-on designs do not require tools. If the caster is stuck tightly, you can use a flat-head screwdriver with a soft cloth to gently pry the edge of the snap to avoid scratching the bracket.Tool-assisted Disassembly
- Tapping Method: Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently tap the caster to loosen it, and then use a hammer to tap it until it is completely disassembled.
- Leverage Prying Method: Use needle-nose pliers to grip the joint between the wheel and the chair, and use a fulcrum to pry outwards. You can pry while turning it counterclockwise. If the wheel shaft separates from the plastic part, grip the upper part of the ring and continue prying.
- Threaded Model: Use a small wrench to turn left to loosen the thread.
Assembly Methods
Regular Assembly
- After cleaning the caster, drop 1-2 drops of special lubricating oil for office equipment onto the bearing, and rotate the caster to evenly distribute the lubricating oil.
- Align the caster with the snap on the bracket and gently push it until you hear a 'click' sound to confirm that it is securely installed.
- Turn the chair upright and push it to test whether the caster moves smoothly. If it is stuck, check and clean any remaining debris.
Simple Assembly Tips
- When installing a new wheel, press and turn it clockwise at the same time. If it is difficult to press in, you can stand the chair up and sit on it to use your body weight to press it in.
- Ensure that the caster fits snugly against the bracket to avoid wobbling or falling off due to improper installation.
Precautions
- Avoid using excessive force during disassembly to prevent damage to the bracket or the wheel.
- Choose a special type of lubricating oil to avoid corroding the bearing.
- During post-assembly testing, if the caster is still not flexible, it may be due to bearing wear or bracket deformation, and further inspection or replacement of parts is required.
By following the above steps, you can efficiently complete the disassembly and assembly of office chair casters, ensuring safe and comfortable use.
