Office Chair Inspired by Cars

Admin October 09, 2026

Toyota Boshoku and Dongfeng Nissan have both launched distinctive office chair products.

Toyota Boshoku's Crown Office Seat:
The "Crown Office Seat" launched by Toyota Boshoku is based on the design of the front seats of the Toyota Crown sedan and represents a core product of its cross-border innovation. This seat retains the heating and ventilation functions of automotive seats and is equipped with an independent battery power supply system, eliminating the need for an external power source. In terms of functional design, it supports reclining, height adjustment, and tilt adjustment, while also providing adjustable lumbar support to meet users' needs for comfort and ergonomics. Additionally, the seat incorporates a seatbelt buckle (possibly a decorative design) and a USB-C port, facilitating user charging or device connection.
This product was developed in collaboration with Japanese furniture manufacturer Itoki and is limited to 70 units. It is priced at 495,000 yen (approximately 21,244 yuan) or about 3,500 US dollars (approximately 23,800 yuan), targeting the high-end market. Its design philosophy aims to extend the luxury and functionality of automotive seats into the office environment, attracting consumers who pursue quality and uniqueness.

Dongfeng Nissan's N7 Office Chair:
The N7 office chair launched by Dongfeng Nissan focuses on envelopment as its core selling point, emphasizing the use of curved design and material selection to simulate the snug fit of in-car seats, creating an immersive experience for users as if they were seated inside a vehicle while working. This design may draw on automotive seat optimization techniques for human body pressure distribution, aiming to reduce fatigue caused by prolonged sitting. However, currently available information does not mention whether this product features advanced functions such as heating, ventilation, or electric adjustment, suggesting that its positioning may lean more towards comfort rather than technological integration.

Both products reflect the cross-border integration trend between the automotive industry and the office furniture sector, with Toyota Boshoku's Crown Office Seat standing out in terms of functional complexity and technological integration, while Dongfeng Nissan's N7 Office Chair focuses more on simulating seat form and user experience.
