Office Chair Cannot Be Lowered
The inability of an office chair to be lowered may be caused by issues with the gas lift, locking mechanism failure, blockage from dirt and foreign objects, loose connecting components, user misoperation, or design flaws in the chair itself, and can be resolved through targeted troubleshooting.

Gas Lift Issues
The gas lift is the core component controlling the chair's height adjustment. If it is damaged or leaking, the chair will not be able to descend. Diagnosis Method: Press down on the seat; if there is no cushioning effect or a hissing sound is heard, the gas lift may be faulty. Solution: Replace the gas lift, which costs approximately 30 yuan. To do this, invert the chair and spray lubricant at the connections between the gas lift, seat, and five-star base. Allow it to penetrate and then separate any rusted components. Use a rubber mallet to tap the connections or grip the gas lift with pipe wrenches to loosen it. If this fails, lightly tap the edge of the connecting piece with a hammer to push it out. When installing the new gas lift, first secure it to the base, then place the seat on top and sit on it to press it firmly in place. Note: Disassembling the gas lift yourself carries the risk of high-pressure gas explosion; non-professionals should proceed with caution.Locking Mechanism Failure
Some chairs are equipped with a locking mechanism to prevent accidental height adjustment. If this mechanism is damaged or stuck, the chair will not be able to descend. Diagnosis Method: Check if the chair is in the locked position. Solution: Try gently patting or shaking the locking mechanism to see if it restores the height adjustment function.Blockage from Dirt and Foreign Objects
Over time, dirt, lint, or dust may accumulate around the gas lift or height adjustment mechanism, causing blockage. Diagnosis Method: Remove the seat base plate and observe if there is oil leakage or foreign objects stuck at the connection between the gas lift and adjustment valve. Solution: Clean the components with a vacuum cleaner or soft cloth, avoiding excessive use of water or cleaning agents. If the blockage is not severe, apply a small amount of silicone-based grease to the exposed part of the gas lift's telescoping rod to alleviate the issue.Loose Connecting Components
Loose screws or bolts at the connections between the seat and base, five-star base, etc., may affect the height adjustment function. Diagnosis Method: Check all connections for stability. Solution: Tighten any loose screws or bolts with the appropriate tools.User Misoperation
Misidentifying the rotation adjustment knob as the height adjustment switch or not using the height adjustment lever correctly (usually located on the right or left side under the seat). Diagnosis Method: Confirm if the operation method is correct. Solution: While sitting, pull up on the adjustment lever to attempt height adjustment.Chair Design Flaws
If none of the above methods work, the chair itself may have design flaws. Solution: Contact the manufacturer or a professional repair technician for inspection and repair.
