Office Chair Calf Height
Admin October 09, 2026
There is no uniform fixed value for the calf height of an office chair; it generally ranges around 5 - 15 centimeters and can vary due to multiple factors.

Influencing Factors
- Seat Height: The commonly used seat height for daily office work is between 40 - 50 centimeters, which is the reasonable range specified in the GB/T 3976 - 2014 standard for adult office chair heights. When the seat is within this standard height range, under a normal and upright sitting posture, the calf height of adults above the ground is usually around 5 - 15 centimeters. If the seat is adjusted too low, for example, below 40 centimeters, the calves may almost touch the ground, with the calf height above the ground approaching 0 centimeters. Conversely, if the seat height is adjusted higher, exceeding 50 centimeters, the distance between the calves and the ground will increase accordingly, possibly exceeding 15 centimeters.
- Personal Leg Length: There are differences in leg lengths among different people, which is one of the key factors affecting calf height. People with longer legs may have a higher calf height above the ground compared to those with shorter legs under the same seat height and sitting posture. For example, a tall person with long legs sitting on a standard-height office chair may have a calf height close to 15 centimeters above the ground, while a shorter person with shorter legs sitting on the same chair may have a calf height of only about 5 centimeters above the ground.
- Sitting Posture Habits: Sitting posture habits also have an impact on calf height. Some people are accustomed to sitting upright with their backs straight and their feet flat on the ground, in which case the calf height above the ground is relatively stable. However, some people may like to cross their legs or place their feet on the chair's crossbar. Such sitting postures will cause changes in calf height and cannot accurately reflect the calf height under normal conditions.
