Office Chair Button
Admin October 08, 2026
The office chair button is a core component for adjusting functions, designed by combining ergonomics with mechanical principles. Common types include rotary knob, paddle, and touch-sensitive buttons, covering functions such as height, backrest, armrest adjustments, and hidden combination operations. Maintenance requires regular cleaning and targeted troubleshooting.

Common Types and Operating Principles
- Rotary Knob Buttons: These adjust functions through rotation. For example, the circular knob beneath the seat controls the height of the gas lift (filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas, utilizing the difference in piston cross-sectional area to generate elasticity), suitable for precise fine-tuning of seat height; some models' knobs can also adjust the backrest elasticity or tilt angle.
- Paddle Buttons: Designed based on the lever principle, usually located on the side of the seat, a light flick controls the backrest angle, offering simple operation and rapid response.
- Touch-Sensitive Buttons: Equipped with built-in sensors, a light touch switches between preset modes (such as sitting, reclining, resting, etc.), commonly found in high-end electronic adjustable office chairs.
Function Classification and Usage Recommendations
- Height Adjustment: It is recommended to adjust until the thighs are parallel to the ground and the knees are at a 90-degree angle when sitting. To operate, sit on the chair with feet flat on the ground, and adjust using the control lever beneath the seat (for lever-type, pull outward and hold) or the button (press directly); some models may require slightly leaving the seat to reduce weight.
- Backrest Locking: The reclining angle is recommended not to exceed 110 degrees to protect the lumbar muscles and spine. The locking button is usually located on the side or bottom of the backrest, and pressing it fixes the current angle.
- Armrest Adjustment: The armrest height should maintain a 2cm height difference from the desktop to avoid arm suspension or excessive elevation. Adjustment buttons are mostly located on the side or bottom of the armrests, supporting up, down, forward, backward, or left and right movements.
- Hidden Function Combination Keys: Some models support simultaneously pressing the height and backrest buttons for 5 seconds to reset all personalized settings (such as tilt angle, seat height memory), suitable for multi-user sharing or troubleshooting scenarios.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Mechanical Button Sticking: Spray a small amount of WD-40 lubricant into the button gaps, avoiding excess to prevent oil residue.
- Electronic Button Failure: Check if the USB charging port is poorly connected or replace the power cord; if still ineffective, it may be an internal sensor failure, requiring contact with after-sales service.
- Function Disorder: Long-press the reset button for 10 seconds to restore factory settings, clearing all custom parameters.
- Regular Cleaning: Wipe the button gaps with alcohol wipes monthly to prevent dust accumulation from affecting the touch or causing short circuits (electronic buttons should be powered off before operation).
