Office Chair Budget Formula
There are mainly two forms of calculation formulas for the office chair budget (i.e., the total cost of purchasing office desks and chairs), as follows:

Single-Set Price Aggregation Method
The core logic of this method is to first calculate the total price of a single set of desk and chair, and then expand it to the total budget based on the number of sets to be purchased. The formula is: $$ ext{Total Budget} = ( ext{Unit Price of Desk} + ext{Unit Price of Chair}) imes ext{Number of Sets}$$ Calculation Steps:
- Determine the prices of a single desk and a single chair (e.g., unit price of desk is 318 yuan, unit price of chair is 82 yuan);
- Add them together to get the price of a single set (318 + 82 = 400 yuan);
- Multiply by the number of sets to be purchased (e.g., 25 sets), and the final total budget is 400 ร 25 = 10,000 yuan. Applicable Scenarios: When the unit price data of desks and chairs are simple and easy to add directly, this method can quickly yield results and reduce intermediate calculation steps. For example, if the unit price of desk is 540 yuan and the unit price of chair is 160 yuan, the price of a single set is 700 yuan, and the total budget for 25 sets is 700 ร 25 = 17,500 yuan.
Itemized Calculation Aggregation Method
This method calculates the total prices of desks and chairs separately, and then sums them up to get the total budget. The formula is: $$ ext{Total Budget} = ( ext{Unit Price of Desk} imes ext{Number of Sets}) + ( ext{Unit Price of Chair} imes ext{Number of Sets})$$ Calculation Steps:
- Calculate the total price of all desks separately (e.g., unit price of desk is 540 yuan ร 25 sets = 13,500 yuan);
- Calculate the total price of all chairs (e.g., unit price of chair is 160 yuan ร 25 sets = 4,000 yuan);
- Add them together to get the total budget (13,500 + 4,000 = 17,500 yuan). Applicable Scenarios: When there is a significant difference in the unit prices of desks and chairs, or when it is necessary to adjust the quantity of a single item separately (e.g., purchasing additional spare chairs), this method can more flexibly control the itemized costs. For example, if 25 sets of desks and chairs need to be purchased but an additional 5 chairs are required, the total budget can be adjusted to (540 ร 25) + (160 ร 30) = 17,700 yuan.
Essence and Selection Suggestions of the Two Methods
Both methods are based on the basic logic of "unit price ร quantity" and are mathematically equivalent (which can be verified by the distributive law of multiplication). Selection Basis:
- If the data is simple and no itemized adjustments are required, the single-set price aggregation method is preferred for its simpler calculations;
- If itemized cost control is required or the data is complex (e.g., different unit prices for different batches), the itemized calculation aggregation method is more intuitive.
