Office Chair Broken Repair
Admin October 16, 2026
The repair of a broken office chair requires selecting the appropriate method based on the location and extent of the break. Common situations and repair steps are as follows:

I. Breakage of the Chair Leg (e.g., Five-Star Base)
- Replace the Casters
If only the casters are damaged, first determine the type of caster (threaded or pronged), use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the old casters, and install matching new ones. This method is simple and suitable for cases where only the casters are damaged. - Replace the Entire Five-Star Base
If the main body of the chair leg is broken, remove the old leg (usually by separating it at the snap ring or by tapping the connection point), purchase a new leg that matches the size of the original one, and reinstall and secure it. This method requires some manual skills but provides a more stable repair result. - Bond the Crack
If the break is minor and there is no structural damage, use diamond glue (mixed in a 1:1 ratio) to bond the crack, secure it with a staple gun, fill with wood flour, pour 502 glue, and sand it until smooth. Finally, adjust the color and apply paint (mainly white, with yellow essence and black-brown added to adjust the color difference). Note: After bonding, allow sufficient curing time before sanding, and gradually transition the color adjustment to avoid color differences.
II. Breakage at the Backrest Connection
- Glue Bonding
Apply AB glue (mixed in a 50:50 ratio) or casting glue to the broken area. After it dries, install a 304 stainless steel connecting plate, mark the hole positions, and secure them with screws. If the gap is large, use stainless steel straps to assist in tightening and enhance the connection strength. - Surface Repair
Cover the repair marks with carbon fiber stickers to improve aesthetics. Note: After bonding, wait for the glue to fully cure (usually more than 24 hours) before use to avoid secondary breakage due to weight bearing.
III. Breakage of the Solid Wood Chair Leg
- Bonding and Fixing
After removing the wood debris from the interface, bond the broken area with diamond glue, secure it with a staple gun to prevent displacement, fill with wood flour, pour 502 glue, and sand it until smooth. - Color Adjustment and Painting
Adjust the paint according to the color of the original chair leg (mainly white, with yellow essence and black-brown added for adjustment). Use a fine brush to simulate wood grain by sweeping strokes. Note: The brushwork should be light, less is more, to avoid color differences or unnatural grain patterns.
Pre-Repair Suggestions and Precautions
- Evaluate the Repair Value: If the chair is inexpensive, has been in use for a long time, or has complex damage to the load-bearing structure (such as metal fatigue or multiple breaks), it is safer to replace it with a new one.
- Prepare Tools: Screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, glue, clamps, sandpaper, etc.
- Safe Operation: Wear gloves during repair to avoid contact with glue on the skin; wear a mask when sanding to prevent inhalation of wood dust.
