Office Chair Broken Repair
Admin October 14, 2026
The repair of a broken office chair requires selecting the appropriate method based on the material. The repair steps for common solid wood and rosewood materials are as follows:

Solid Wood Material Repair
- Clean the Break: Use tools (such as a knife or sandpaper) to remove any residual wood shavings, glue, or debris from the joint area, ensuring a flat and clean contact surface. If there are burrs or fractures at the break, sand them until smooth to avoid affecting the bonding effect.
- Bond and Secure: Select a fast-curing diamond glue (mixed in a 1:1 ratio) and apply it evenly to both sides of the break. Quickly align and press firmly. Diamond glue has high strength after curing and allows for immediate next steps. To enhance stability, use a nail gun (pneumatic nail gun) to reinforce around the joint and prevent loosening.
- Fill Gaps: Use wood flour to fill small gaps at the break, compact it, and then pour in 502 glue (fast-drying type) to fix the wood flour. If there is misalignment or unevenness at the joint, first scrape off the excess with a blade, then use coarse sandpaper for initial sanding, and finally switch to fine sandpaper for overall polishing until the surface is smooth.
- Color Matching and Painting: Clean the surface with degreasing water, then mix pigments according to the original wood color and apply them evenly to the repair area to match the surrounding color. For higher color accuracy, apply the paint in layers and allow it to dry naturally.
Rosewood Material Repair
- Bond the Break: Use a special adhesive (such as white glue or epoxy resin) to reattach the broken parts, ensuring a complete fit. Rosewood has high density, so apply even pressure and keep it fixed during bonding to prevent shifting before the glue dries.
- Fill the Break: Use a filler (such as a mixture of wood shavings and glue) similar in color to the rosewood to fill the break, smooth it out, and let it dry. The filler needs to be compacted to reduce shrinkage and prevent subsequent cracking.
- Fine Sanding: After the filler has fully cured, use fine sandpaper (such as 800 grit or higher) to sand back and forth along the wood grain until the surface is smooth and free of marks. Control the force during sanding to avoid damaging the original wood grain.
- Color Matching and Spray Painting: Spray a special paint or wood wax oil according to the original color of the rosewood to unify the color of the repair area with the overall tone. If the original chair has carved patterns, use a fine brush or wood grain pen to redraw the patterns and restore the artistic sense.
Precautions:
- Before repairing, assess the extent of the break. If the structure is severely damaged (such as a broken load-bearing beam), it is recommended to contact a professional for handling.
- Wear gloves and a mask during operation to avoid contact with glue or wood shavings on the skin or inhalation into the respiratory tract.
- After repairing, let it stand for more than 24 hours to ensure the glue is fully cured before use.
