Office Chair Bracket PA

Admin October 09, 2026

The PA material used in office chair brackets is typically glass-fiber-reinforced nylon (glass-fiber PA), a composite material enhanced with glass fibers. It offers advantages such as high strength, lightweight properties, and chemical resistance, making it widely applicable in key load-bearing components of office chairs.

1. Material Composition and Characteristics

Glass-fiber PA is formed by incorporating glass fibers into a nylon matrix at a ratio of 10%-50%. The addition of glass fibers significantly enhances the mechanical properties of nylon: strength and rigidity are substantially increased, with impact resistance superior to traditional metals; abrasion resistance is enhanced, ensuring long-term durability without wear; its lightweight nature results in a weight only 1/3 to 1/2 that of metals while maintaining structural stability; and chemical resistance is excellent, withstanding most solvents, oils, and weak acids and bases. These characteristics make it an ideal material for office chair brackets, capable of bearing human weight and adapting to frequent adjustments.

2. Core Application Value

The key advantage of glass-fiber PA lies in its balance of strength and weight. Compared to metal brackets, it is lighter and easier to move or adjust; compared to ordinary plastics (such as PP and PE), it offers higher strength and is less prone to deformation under long-term loads or external impacts. For example, the five-star base of an office chair must withstand dynamic loads, and the fatigue resistance of glass-fiber PA ensures it remains crack-free over extended use; armrest brackets require frequent angle adjustments, and the rigidity of glass-fiber PA prevents loosening after adjustments. Additionally, its heat resistance (with long-term service temperatures up to 120-150ยฐC) and dimensional stability (low thermal expansion coefficient) are superior to those of ordinary plastics, making it suitable for complex structural components.

3. Typical Application Scenarios

Glass-fiber PA is commonly used in key parts of office chairs, such as five-star bases, armrest brackets, and chassis connectors. For instance, some high-end office chairs employ PA nylon brackets paired with PU armrest surfaces, utilizing the rigidity of glass-fiber PA to enable 360ยฐ rotation, height adjustment, and multi-directional movement of the armrests while maintaining structural stability; five-star bases made of glass-fiber PA reduce overall weight, easing handling, and incorporate reinforced designs (such as thicker walls or ribbed structures) to ensure load-bearing capacity. Furthermore, the processability of glass-fiber PA (injection molding, extrusion molding) supports complex structural designs, meeting ergonomic requirements.

4. Comparison with Other Materials

Compared to metals (such as steel and aluminum alloys), glass-fiber PA eliminates the need for welding or surface treatment, improving production efficiency and eliminating rust risks; compared to ordinary plastics (such as ABS and PC), it offers superior strength and heat resistance, extending service life. However, it should be noted that the brittleness of glass-fiber PA is slightly higher than that of pure nylon, necessitating designs that avoid sharp notches or stress concentrations. Additionally, prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light may cause aging, which can be mitigated by adding UV stabilizers.
