Office Chair Bracket Lifting

Admin October 17, 2026

The lifting of office chair brackets is usually achieved through gas lift cylinders, which are the core components of pneumatic lifting chairs. Their working principle is based on generating support force through changes in air pressure, and there are also other types such as hydraulic and mechanical ones.

The gas lift cylinder is a key structure of pneumatic lifting chairs. It consists of a cylinder, a piston, and seals inside. When a user adjusts the height of the chair seat, the piston moves up and down inside the cylinder, adjusting the air pressure by changing the volume of the gas inside the cylinder. For example, when pressing down on the chair seat, the piston compresses the gas inside the cylinder, increasing the air pressure. The resulting reaction force lifts the chair seat. Conversely, when the air pressure decreases, the chair seat descends. This design not only enables smooth lifting and lowering functions but also automatically adjusts the support force according to the user's weight, ensuring stability during use. The Jingdong Jingzao Z5 Pro ergonomic chair uses a 4-stage gas lift rod, which further enhances the precision and safety of the lifting through a multi-stage air pressure adjustment structure. Its gas lift rod usually undergoes rigorous testing and can withstand high-intensity pressure, avoiding the risk of explosion.

In addition to pneumatic types, lifting chairs also include hydraulic and mechanical types. Hydraulic lifting chairs achieve lifting and lowering through the flow of hydraulic oil inside the oil cylinder. Their principle is similar to that of gas lift cylinders, but they rely on the incompressibility of liquids, so the support force is more stable. However, their response speed is slower, and there is a risk of oil leakage, resulting in higher maintenance costs. Mechanical lifting chairs achieve height adjustment through mechanical structures such as gears and threads. They are commonly found in early designs or specific scenarios (such as laboratory high stools). Their advantages are simple structure and low cost, but height adjustment requires manual operation, and the height positions are fixed, offering less flexibility.

In practical applications, pneumatic lifting chairs have become the mainstream choice in the market due to their convenient operation and moderate cost. Their safety depends on the quality of the gas lift rod. High-quality gas lift rods need to pass international certifications such as SGS and BIFMA to ensure pressure resistance and airtightness. When using them, users should avoid frequently and rapidly adjusting the height and regularly check the surface of the gas lift rod for cracks or air leakage to extend its service life and ensure safety.
