Office Chair Bracket Collapsed

Admin October 10, 2026

When the bracket of an office chair collapses, different measures can be taken according to the extent of the damage. If the chair is still under warranty, contact after-sales service. If the warranty has expired or you need to handle it yourself, first conduct a safety inspection and fault location, and then choose a repair method based on the situation.

If the chair is still under warranty, contact after-sales service immediately and provide the purchase proof to apply for free repair or replacement. This is the most convenient way to safeguard your rights and avoid the risks and additional costs that may arise from self-handling.

If the warranty has expired or you need to handle it yourself, first conduct a safety inspection and fault location. Observe the collapsed area, press to feel the change in support force, listen for any abnormal noises, and shake to check for problems with the connectors.

For a loose bracket, there are the following non-welding repair methods:

  • Hardware Reinforcement Method: Suitable for wooden and metal chairs. Select thickened carbon steel or stainless steel accessories such as 90-degree right-angle corner braces and triangular brackets. Attach the hardware to the loose gaps or corners, mark the positions of the screw holes, use an electric drill or screwdriver to make holes, and fix the hardware with matching screws. This method can effectively enhance the stability of the bracket and is relatively simple to operate.
  • Glue Bonding Method: Mainly suitable for loose wooden chairs caused by glue aging or wear of the wood joints. Unscrew the screws of the loose parts, separate the components, sand the old glue and dirt at the joints, repair any damage to the mortise, apply woodworking glue at the joints, reassemble the components, insert new wooden wedges to enhance stability, fix with wooden clamps, remove any overflowing glue, and let it stand for at least 24 hours. This method can repair wood joint problems, but pay attention to the choice of glue and the standing time.
  • Combined Reinforcement Method: Combines glue bonding with mechanical fastening. First, repair and bond the joints according to the steps of the glue bonding method. After initial curing, use rivets or screws for secondary mechanical reinforcement at key stress points. This method combines the advantages of the previous two methods and provides better reinforcement.

If the bracket is severely damaged, such as a break in the metal components, welding repair can be considered. However, welding requires professional equipment and skills and poses a high safety risk, so it is generally not recommended for non-professionals to attempt. In addition, you can also independently detect the damaged parts. For example, if the base is cracked, it needs to be replaced entirely, and if the gas rod sinks, you can adjust the limit screw. You can also use third-party repair services to replace the gas rod, etc.
