Office Chair Bow-shaped Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

The following methods can be referred to for the repair of bow-shaped office chairs:

I. Chair Structure Reinforcement
The frame and support structure of a bow-shaped office chair are the core load-bearing components, and their firmness should be checked first. Use a screwdriver or wrench to tighten all visible screws one by one, focusing on the connection points between the seat and the chair legs, as well as the fixing points of the bow-shaped bracket. If a metal bracket is found to be deformed or broken, replace it with a metal piece of the same specification; if the wooden frame is cracked, fill the crack with woodworking glue and clamp it firmly until the glue is completely dry before use.

II. Connection Point Reinforcement
The connection points between the seat and the backrest, as well as between the chair legs and the bow-shaped bracket, are areas of concentrated stress. If any connecting parts are found to be loose, first clean the rust or old glue from the contact surface with sandpaper, then apply special woodworking glue (for wooden structures) or metal welding glue (for metal structures), and fix it with clamps for more than 24 hours. For frequently moving joint parts, metal gaskets can be added or lock nuts can be used to reduce wear caused by long-term use.

III. Replacement of Damaged Parts
If the chair tilts to one side, check whether the casters are deformed. Invert the chair and use a level to measure the height difference of the casters. If the deviation exceeds 5mm, replace the entire set of caster assemblies (to avoid inconsistent heights between new and old casters). For cracked plastic parts (such as armrests and gas rod casings), a hot-melt glue gun can be used for temporary repair, but it is recommended to directly replace them with original factory parts to ensure safety. When the gas rod fails, use a special wrench to disassemble it. When installing a new gas rod, pay attention to the marked load-bearing range.

IV. Bottom Support Enhancement
Adding metal triangular plates at the intersection of the chair legs can significantly improve stability. Select a steel plate with a thickness of โ‰ฅ3mm, drill holes according to the size of the chair legs, and fix it with bolts. If the bottom of the chair is hollow, cut a wooden board of appropriate size (thickness 15-20mm) and embed it at the bottom, fixing it to the inner side of the chair legs with self-tapping screws to form an additional support surface.

V. Repair Operation Process

  1. Disassembly Preparation: Place the chair on a flat surface and mark the positions of all disassembled parts with a marker pen to avoid misalignment during reassembly.
  2. Component Disassembly: Use corresponding tools (such as an Allen wrench to disassemble the gas rod) to gradually disassemble the parts, and handle fragile parts (such as plastic buckles) with care.
  3. Part Replacement: Before installing new parts, clean the burrs on the contact surface with sandpaper and apply a small amount of grease (for metal parts) or silicone grease (for plastic parts) to reduce friction.
  4. Assembly and Debugging: Assemble the parts in the reverse order of disassembly, focusing on checking whether the gas rod rises and falls smoothly and whether the casters rotate flexibly. Finally, adjust the chair to a comfortable height.

After the repair is completed, it is recommended to conduct a load test (such as having a person weighing more than 80kg sit on it for 10 minutes) to confirm that there are no abnormal sounds or deformations before normal use.
