Office Chair Bow Chair Broken

Admin October 09, 2026

When an office chair with a bow frame is damaged, you can choose to repair or replace it based on the type of damage. Here are the specific handling methods:

If the mesh fabric is torn, first measure the length of both ends of the torn mesh (you can make it slightly longer) to ensure sufficient coverage. Use a sewing machine to make the new mesh into a sleeve shape, thread it through the edge of the bow chair, and secure it. If the mesh cannot be fully attached, you can use a temporary fixing method (such as using strong glue or clips). However, be aware that temporary fixing may affect the service life, and it is recommended to replace it with a suitable mesh as soon as possible.

If the mechanism is damaged, handle it according to the specific part:

  1. Wheel damage: First, check if the ground is level. If the wheels are bent or broken, you need to purchase a complete set of matching wheels for replacement (it is difficult to replace a single wheel foot separately). When replacing, use a screwdriver to remove the old wheel foot, apply lubricant (such as WD-40) to the socket on the chair base, and then use a rubber mallet to knock the new wheel foot in to ensure it is firmly installed.
  2. Loose screws: Use a wrench or screwdriver to tighten the loose screws, focusing on checking load-bearing parts such as the chair legs and backrest connections. If the screws are stripped or lost, replace them with screws of the same specification to avoid using mismatched parts that may cause structural instability.

If the chair is severely aged or the main load-bearing structure is broken (such as bow frame deformation or metal fatigue), evaluate the repair cost. If the parts are hard to find, the repair cost exceeds 30% of the chair's value, or the structure is unstable and poses a safety hazard, it is recommended to buy a new chair directly. When purchasing, choose a product of reliable quality, and prioritize checking the load-bearing structure (such as the thickness of the bow frame and welding process) and materials (such as high-density foam and breathable mesh) to ensure comfort and durability.

Daily maintenance can extend the service life:

  • Regularly wipe off surface dust to prevent stains from penetrating the material;
  • When cleaning the seat cushion and backrest, use a neutral detergent and a soft cloth to avoid corrosive chemicals;
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight (which can cause plastic aging) or being in a humid environment (which can cause metal rusting). It is recommended to place the chair in a well-ventilated and dry place.

Through targeted repairs and scientific maintenance, the function of the bow chair can be effectively restored. If the damage is severe, it should be replaced in a timely manner to ensure safety in use.
