Office Chair Bottom Modeling
Office chair bottom modeling mainly includes the modeling of the five-star base and the casters. The following takes the Pinnacle office chair as an example to introduce the modeling methods in detail.

Five-Star Base Modeling
Polygon modeling is a commonly used method for creating a five-star base. First, start by constructing a single leg. Use the 'Editable Poly' tool to shape the basic form of the single leg through operations such as stretching and extrusion. During the shaping process, precisely control the positions of each vertex and the direction of the edges to ensure that the structure of the single leg meets the design requirements.
After completing the modeling of the single leg, use the rotation and copy function to generate the remaining four legs. The key is to ensure that the angles between the multiple legs are evenly distributed. Usually, the angle between each leg of a five-star base is 72 degrees. This goal can be achieved by accurately calculating and adjusting the rotation angle, or by using auxiliary tools or plugins to ensure the accuracy of the angles.
Rounded transitions are one of the difficulties in five-star base modeling, directly affecting the aesthetics and practicality of the base. Use the 'Chamfer' tool to chamfer the edges that require rounded transitions. By adjusting the chamfer parameters, such as the number of segments and the chamfer amount, make the rounded transitions smooth and natural. In addition, the 'Symmetry' tool can be used to view the symmetry effect in real-time during the modeling process, helping to promptly detect and correct asymmetry issues, and improving modeling efficiency and quality.
Caster Modeling
Casters are modeled using a combination of revolved bodies. First, create the basic revolved body parts of the casters, such as using the cylinder tool to create the axle part of the casters, the ring tool to create the hub part, and the sphere tool to create the rolling part of the wheels. When creating these parts, precisely set their dimensions and positions to ensure that the proportions between the parts are coordinated.
After the parts are created, combine them together. Since casters have many parts and are small in size, ensuring that the axes are aligned is a difficulty in modeling. You can use the alignment tool to align the axes of each part to the same position, ensuring that the casters can function properly during rotation and rolling. Finally, use the 'TurboSmooth' tool to smooth the casters, improving their surface quality and making them look more realistic.
