Office Chair Bottom Knob

Admin October 14, 2026

The knob beneath an office chair typically serves functions such as adjusting height, backrest hardness, backrest elasticity or tilt angle, as well as locking and unlocking.

Height Adjustment: This is the most common function of the knob beneath an office chair. By rotating this knob, the operation of the piston inside the gas lift can be controlled. Utilizing the pressure difference generated inside the gas lift, the chair can be raised or lowered. This function can meet the needs of users of different heights, ensuring that users can maintain an appropriate sitting posture while working, with their feet flat on the ground and their knees and hips roughly at a 90-degree angle, thereby reducing physical fatigue.

Backrest Hardness Adjustment: Some office chair knobs have the function of adjusting the hardness of the backrest. When the knob is rotated clockwise, the backrest becomes harder, providing stronger support for the user's back, suitable for people who need to maintain a fixed sitting posture for a long time or engage in high-intensity work; while rotating the knob counterclockwise makes the backrest softer, offering more flexible support and allowing users to be more comfortable during rest or some light activities.

Backrest Elasticity or Tilt Angle Adjustment: The knobs on some high-end office chairs have richer functions. They can not only adjust the elasticity of the backrest but also change the tilt angle of the chair. By rotating the knob, users can adjust the elasticity of the backrest according to their own preferences and needs, enabling the backrest to better fit the curve of the back and provide personalized support. At the same time, the tilt angle of the chair can also be changed, allowing users to rest in a more comfortable posture during work breaks.

Control of Chair Recline Amplitude and Elasticity: Some office chair knobs can control the amplitude and elasticity of the chair's backward tilt. When the knob is tightened, the amplitude of the chair leaning backward becomes smaller, and the rebound elasticity is stronger, suitable for work scenarios where a relatively upright sitting posture needs to be maintained; while loosening the knob a bit makes the amplitude of the chair leaning backward larger and the rebound elasticity weaker, which is more suitable for rest and relaxation.

Locking and Unlocking Function: Some office chair knobs also have a locking and unlocking function. Pushing the knob inward can lock the current state of the chair, preventing accidental movement or tilting of the chair during use; pulling the knob outward unlocks it, restoring the chair to an adjustable state and facilitating various adjustments by the user according to their needs.
