The Bottom of the Office Chair is Broken

Admin October 10, 2026

For damage to the bottom of an office chair, an appropriate repair solution can be selected based on the specific situation. Before repairing, prepare tools and materials such as a screwdriver, scissors, stapler, new fabric, and adhesive.

If the damage consists of small cracks or fissures, acrylic resin can be applied directly and then dried and cured with a hairdryer. Acrylic resin has good bonding and curing properties, enabling it to fill small cracks, enhance the structural strength of the damaged area, and prevent the cracks from expanding further.

For slightly larger cracks or holes, find a piece of sturdy fabric slightly larger than the damaged area, such as denim or cotton cloth, and place it under the damage as a patch. Then, apply a specialized repair adhesive and press to secure it. The sturdy fabric provides sufficient support, while the specialized repair adhesive ensures a tight bond between the fabric and the chair surface, making the repaired area more durable.

For small-area damage with neat edges, if you have some manual dexterity, you can use thread of a similar color for fine stitching. Choosing thread of a similar color makes the stitching less noticeable, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the chair surface, while fine stitches ensure the repair is secure.

If the damaged area is large but concentrated, such as edge wear, consider partial stitching or replacement. Partial stitching is suitable for mild wear and can restore the functionality of the chair surface through appropriate stitching methods; if the wear is severe, the corresponding parts need to be replaced.

If the damage is severe or the area is too large, consider replacing the entire chair fabric or cushion cover. You can purchase a suitable cushion cover from furniture stores, online shopping platforms, or manufacturers of office furniture. Choose materials with a similar color and texture to the original to maintain overall consistency. If you don't have a ready-made cushion cover, you can make a new one by cutting the material according to the original dimensions and style, and then stitching or gluing it together.

Additionally, if the non-woven fabric under the chair is torn, exposing the sponge and springs inside and making sitting uncomfortable, you can also repair or replace it using the methods mentioned above.
