Office Chair, Boss Chair, Seat

Admin October 09, 2026

The boss chair is a type of computer chair, typically used by business managers in their offices, and some home studies are also equipped with it.

I. Structure and Components
The boss chair consists of eight basic components, including wheels, a five-star base, a gas lift, and a chassis. Among them, the gas lift is the core component, which adjusts the seat height by compressing gas. It is essential to choose products that meet safety standards (such as Class III or IV gas cylinders) to avoid explosion risks due to poor quality. The chassis connects the gas lift to the seat cushion and must have sufficient load-bearing capacity; the five-star base affects stability, with metal being superior to plastic; the wheels should be suitable for carpets or hard floors to prevent poor sliding or floor scratches.

II. Materials and Classifications
Boss chairs are commonly made of two types of materials: leather and mesh:

  • Leather models: Mostly use PU leather or genuine leather, offering a delicate touch and moderate breathability. They are commonly found in high-back (executive) chairs and medium-back chairs. For example, the Xichang L6 boss chair uses top-grain genuine leather, combining durability and comfort.
  • Mesh models: Covered with high-elasticity mesh on the backrest and seat cushion, providing excellent breathability, suitable for summer or prolonged use, and commonly found in low-back chairs. The elastic support of the mesh can disperse body pressure and reduce stuffiness.

III. Design Features
The design of boss chairs focuses on comfort and professional image:

  • Support functions: The lumbar and back areas feature three-dimensional support designs, such as the dynamic lower lumbar support of the Xichang L6, which adjusts to fit different sitting postures; head support is provided through adjustable headrests to relieve cervical spine pressure.
  • Adjustable functions: Armrests are mostly three-stage adjustable to match different desk heights; the recline angle usually reaches 135 degrees (such as the Xichang L6), supporting short breaks; some models are equipped with electric lumbar support (such as the Guquan S9), which adapts to different body types with a 6 cm adjustable lumbar distance.
  • Seat cushion material: Made of thick high-density foam or memory foam, which does not easily collapse after prolonged sitting, such as the Xichang L6's seat cushion thickness of 8-10 cm.

IV. Brands and Safety
Brands like Herman Miller and Sihoo focus on ergonomic design in the market, but the following safety issues should be noted:

  • Gas cylinder quality: Choose products certified by SGS, BIFMA, etc., to avoid low-quality gas cylinders.
  • Environmental friendliness: Some products may have excessive formaldehyde emissions, so check the test reports.
  • Flame retardancy: Boss chairs used in public places must comply with flame retardancy standards to reduce fire risks.
