Office Chair and Boss Chair Repair

Admin October 09, 2026

The repair of office chairs and boss chairs requires targeted measures based on the type of damage. Here are the specific repair methods:

Steps for repairing an office chair that leans to one side

  1. Check the wheel status: Place the chair upright and upside down to observe whether the wheel feet are in even contact with the ground. If a particular wheel foot is found to be suspended or the ground is uneven, further check whether the wheel foot is damaged. After inverting the chair, carefully examine the wheel feet for any cracks, deformations, or signs of wear.
  2. Replace damaged wheels: If it is confirmed that the wheels are damaged, purchase matching new wheels. You can contact the manufacturer and provide the chair model to order original wheels, or take the old wheels to an office supplies store to find replacements with the same size and axle shape. When removing the old wheels, if they cannot be pulled out directly by hand, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the wheel foot and the chair's contact point as a lever for assistance. If the wheels are fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to loosen the screws and then remove them.
  3. Lubricate the base sockets: Apply a small amount of spray lubricant (such as WD-40) to each chair base socket. Insert the straw into the spray nozzle and quickly spray for about half a second towards the socket. If no lubricant is available, apply a pea-sized amount of petroleum jelly to each wheel axle as an alternative.
  4. Install new wheels: Use a rubber mallet to tap the new casters into the sockets. First, align the caster rod with the base, gently push it with your hand to confirm the position, and if it cannot be fully inserted, gently tap the base of the caster rod near the stem with a rubber mallet (avoid directly tapping the wheel surface).
  5. Test and further inspection: Invert the chair and test whether the new wheels are stable. If it still leans, check whether the seat plate is damaged. After placing the chair on its side, locate the metal seat plate at the bottom of the seat (usually a square black painted steel plate connecting to a single-leg cylindrical column) and observe whether it is deformed or broken.

Repair method for minor wear on leather boss chairs If there is minor wear on the back of the leather, first clean the damaged area with a multi-purpose cleaner. Choose a neutral or leather-specific cleaner, dip a soft cloth into it, and gently wipe in a circular motion to remove surface stains and dust. After cleaning, allow it to dry naturally and avoid exposure to sunlight or high-temperature drying to prevent the leather from becoming hard and cracking. If there are minor cracks in the worn area, you can subsequently use a leather repair paste for filling and repair.
