Office Chair - Boss Chair (Leather)

Admin October 09, 2026

Leather boss chairs are office seats designed for business managers or home studies, using genuine leather or artificial leather (PU leather) as the upholstery. They feature ergonomic support and adjustability, but attention should be paid to material differences and safe usage.

I. Materials and Types Common upholstery materials for leather boss chairs include genuine leather and artificial leather (PU leather). Genuine leather, with top-grain cowhide being the best choice, offers a delicate touch and excellent breathability, making it comfortable for prolonged sitting without feeling stuffy, as exemplified by the Xichang L6 boss chair. In contrast, artificial leather (PU leather) is relatively cheaper but may have inferior breathability and durability compared to genuine leather, and is prone to cracking and peeling over long-term use. Due to the scarcity of raw materials, genuine leather executive chairs are more expensive, with color options typically limited to classic shades like black and brown; artificial leather, however, can achieve a wider range of colors through dyeing processes.

II. Structure and Function Leather boss chairs are designed following ergonomic principles, with core components including casters, a five-star base, a gas lift, a seat pan, armrests, a backrest, and a headrest. Their functional features are as follows:

  1. Support: The lumbar and back areas adopt three-dimensional support designs, such as the dynamic lower lumbar support of the Xichang L6, which helps disperse pressure from prolonged sitting; the seat pan is filled with thick, high-density foam, preventing sagging over extended use.
  2. Adjustability: Most models are equipped with a gas lift for height adjustment; some support tilt angle adjustment (e.g., up to 135 degrees for reclining), meeting rest needs; armrests are often three-stage adjustable to accommodate different sitting postures.
  3. Mobility: Silent casters are installed at the bottom, allowing flexible movement within the office area.

III. Safety and Health Risks

  1. Gas Lift Quality: Poor-quality gas lifts may explode due to excessive internal gas pressure or poor sealing. When purchasing, ensure the product has passed safety certifications such as SGS or BIFMA.
  2. Harmful Substance Emission: Some low-quality leather boss chairs may have issues like excessive formaldehyde or non-compliant flame retardancy, posing health risks from long-term exposure. It is advisable to choose products that meet national environmental standards.

IV. Cleaning and Maintenance For daily cleaning, use a clean, soft cloth to wipe away dust; for stubborn stains, gently scrub with a neutral detergent diluted in warm water (concentration 1%-3%), then remove residual detergent with a damp, wrung-out cloth, avoiding acidic or alkaline cleaners that may damage the leather. After prolonged use, regularly apply specialized leather conditioner to maintain the leather's suppleness.
