Removing Blood Stains from Office Chairs
Admin October 11, 2026
After getting blood stains on an office chair, choose a cleaning method based on the age of the stain and the fabric type, as follows:

I. Fresh Blood Stain Treatment
- Blot the Surface Liquid: Immediately use a clean tissue or cloth to press and blot away excess blood. Avoid rubbing back and forth to prevent the stain from spreading.
- Cold Water Rinse/Soak: Turn the stained area upside down and rinse the back with running cold water, or soak it in cold water for 15-30 minutes to soften and dissolve the blood stain.
- Apply Detergent: Use a mild neutral detergent, underwear soap, or sulfur soap, and gently rub the stained area. Avoid applying excessive force to prevent damaging the fabric.
- Rinse and Dry: Thoroughly rinse with cold water, then use a dry towel to blot away moisture. Ensure the fabric is completely dry to prevent bacterial growth.
II. Old/Stubborn Blood Stain Treatment
- Extend Soaking Time: Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully soften dried blood stains.
- Enzymatic Detergent Breakdown: Apply a laundry detergent containing protease or a specialized detergent for underwear. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then gently brush the stain in one direction with a soft-bristled brush.
- Oxidizing Agent Treatment (For Light-Colored Fabrics Only): Apply 3% medical hydrogen peroxide to the stain, let it sit for 5-15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Test in an inconspicuous area before use to avoid fading.
- Auxiliary Cleaning Methods:
- Cold Saltwater: Add 10 grams of salt per liter of water and soak the stained area locally to aid in breakdown.
- Diluted White Vinegar or Baking Soda Paste: Apply and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then gently wipe away residue.
III. Cleaning Focus for Different Fabrics
- Fabric/Mesh Fabrics: These are water-resistant and can be soaked and gently scrubbed. Use a neutral or specialized fabric cleaner.
- Leather Fabrics:
- Avoid using excessive water and harsh chemicals. Gently wipe with a damp cloth soaked in diluted neutral detergent and immediately dry.
- You can try a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and fabric softener, a paste of alcohol, white vinegar, and baking soda, or a professional leather cleaner (test for fading beforehand).
- After cleaning, use a leather conditioner to prevent cracking.
Precautions: Confirm the fabric type before cleaning and avoid using high temperatures or strong acids/alkalis. If the stain is stubborn or the fabric is special, consider contacting a professional cleaning service.
