Office Chair Blood Stain Removal
Admin October 19, 2026
The method for removing blood stains from an office chair should be selected based on the age of the stain and the material of the chair, as detailed below:

I. General First-Aid Principles
- Immediate Action: As soon as a blood stain is discovered, use a clean tissue or dry cloth to blot up the surface blood immediately. Avoid rubbing back and forth to prevent the stain from spreading.
- Cold Water Treatment: Blood contains proteins that coagulate when exposed to heat. Rinse or soak the stained area with cold water below 30ยฐC for 10-30 minutes, gently rubbing the edges of the stain.
II. Cleaning Methods by Material
Leather Office Chairs
- After blotting up the blood, use a slightly damp soft cloth dipped in neutral detergent to gently wipe.
- For stubborn stains, try 75% medical alcohol or a specialized leather cleaner, but first test for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area.
- After cleaning, wipe away any residue with a damp cloth, thoroughly dry with a dry cloth, and apply leather conditioner for maintenance.
Mesh/Fabric Office Chairs
- Immediately soak the stained area in cold water or repeatedly rinse with cold water.
- Use soapy water or enzyme-based detergent to gently scrub, avoiding damage to the fibers.
- You can first vacuum the area, then spray a diluted cleaner and let it sit to break down the stain, finally using a water extractor or dry cloth to absorb the solution.
III. Removing Old Blood Stains
- Extended Soaking: Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully soften dried blood stains.
- Enzyme-Based Detergents: Apply a laundry detergent or underwear-specific detergent containing protease, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then gently brush in one direction with a soft-bristled brush.
- Oxidizing Agents (only for white or light-colored, bleach-resistant fabrics): Dab with 3% medical hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for 5-15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Always test in a small area first.
- Auxiliary Methods: You can use cold saltwater, diluted white vinegar, or baking soda paste for local treatment.
IV. Special Scenario Methods
- Alcohol + Collar Cleaner + Color Bleach Solution: Spray alcohol to break down the blood stain, wait 5 minutes, then scrub with collar cleaner, let it sit for half an hour, wet-brush, and finally wet-apply the color bleach solution to the stain.
- Underwear Laundry Detergent Dry Application Method: Apply underwear laundry detergent directly to the blood stain, let it sit for 4 minutes, then gently scrub with a damp soft-bristled brush, and finally absorb the residue with a dry cloth.
Precautions: After cleaning, ensure the chair is completely dry to prevent bacterial growth from moisture; always test oxidizing agents or specialized cleaners in a small area first to prevent color fading or material damage.
